DO YOU HAVE A FRIEND YOU CAN CONFESS TO?
God didn't put us on this planet to do life alone. We all have heard the famous words. "No man is an island." That's so true! We were not designed to be an island to ourselves.
We need a spiritual family, expressed through our local church, to come around us and help us move on when we fail. Solomon warns us of the dangers of becoming bitter and isolated when we nurse our regrets. "…But woe to him who is alone when he falls, for he has no one to help him up" (Ecclesiastes 4:10).
We also see in James 5:16 that we need to have spiritual friends with us. You know, we need that person we can go to and say hey, you know what I stuffed up, what do I do. That friend that can pray with us gives us biblical counselling even though we won't like to hear it. We sometimes wait so long to reach out that it is almost too late.
In James, we see how important it is to be not alone. If we believe the bible is full of perfect wisdom, why do we not follow it? Yes, people will hurt us. We are all human, but trust that God will send the right people to you and that even when a brother or sister falls, we can forgive and move forward in our walk with Jesus.
James 5:16 (CSB)
16 Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is very powerful in its effect.
