Every time we begin to worry, we should see that as a call from God telling us that it’s time to pray. Prayer is relational communication with God.

It seeks to draw resources from the invisible spiritual realm into visible, physical reality. The sobering truth is that the more you worry, the less you pray. But the more you pray, the less you worry

The heart should be guarded, for out of it, one’s actions are shown, as we read in Luke 6:45. Here the word “heart” means more than mental or emotional capacity; it also encompasses one’s values.

So do not only guard your heart about also the values God teaches us in Matthew 6:21.

DO YOU HAVE A FRIEND YOU CAN CONFESS TO?

God didn't put us on this planet to do life alone. We all have heard the famous words. "No man is an island." That's so true! We were not designed to be an island to ourselves.

We need a spiritual family, expressed through our local church, to come around us and help us move on when we fail. Solomon warns us of the dangers of becoming bitter and isolated when we nurse our regrets. "…But woe to him who is alone when he falls, for he has no one to help him up" (Ecclesiastes 4:10).

We also see in James 5:16 that we need to have spiritual friends with us. You know, we need that person we can go to and say hey, you know what I stuffed up, what do I do. That friend that can pray with us gives us biblical counselling even though we won't like to hear it. We sometimes wait so long to reach out that it is almost too late.

In James, we see how important it is to be not alone. If we believe the bible is full of perfect wisdom, why do we not follow it? Yes, people will hurt us. We are all human, but trust that God will send the right people to you and that even when a brother or sister falls, we can forgive and move forward in our walk with Jesus.

James 5:16 (CSB)
16 Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is very powerful in its effect.

We agree with God's revealed Word when we confess our sins to God. We admit that we need His grace and mercy. What the light exposes is not just a mistake, a bad habit, or a mere product of our upbringing. It's a sin. This allows forgiveness and cleansing power to flow.

1 John 1:9 (CSB)
9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

To the people of Judah in Isaiah’s day, this was a reminder to trust God’s promises especially when times are hard. To the Jews in Babylon who read these words years later, this was a reminder of God’s never-failing faithfulness to his covenant.

Isaiah 40:8 (CSB) 8 The grass withers, the flowers fade,
but the word of our God remains forever.”

To the people of Judah in Isaiah’s day, this was a reminder to trust God’s promises, especially when times are hard. To the Jews in Babylon who read these words years later, this was a reminder of God’s never-failing faithfulness to his covenant.

God’s Word is always purposeful, and his purposes are always achieved. The Bible can be trusted.
