“A Compassionate Call: The Harvest Is Plentiful”

On Wednesday, 19 November 2025, Apostle Gavin Van Der Hoven conducted the midweek Divine Service in the Reiersvlei Congregation, Worcester District. He was accompanied by District Rector Colin Andrews, together with the Rectors and their wives from across the Worcester District.

The brass ensemble and choir rendered beautiful melodies as members filled the church, creating an atmosphere of joyful anticipation for the Word of God.

The Rector of Avian Park, Priest Solomon Cupido, was called to serve along.

Before the celebration of Holy Communion, three souls received the gift of the Holy Spirit through the act of Holy Sealing.

To conclude the Divine Service, the choir fittingly rendered the hymn “A Glorious Land Awaits Us” from the hymn collection, after which the Apostle and District Rector warmly greeted and interacted with the members.

𝐎𝐧𝐛𝐨𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐭
On Saturday, 25 October 2025, the Worcester District hosted an engaging onboarding session for its confirmands at Worcester South Congregation, which marked a vibrant start to the exciting new spiritual journey awaiting them as they prepare to become young adults in Christ.

Setting the tone for the day, facilitator Sister Elpauchia Cook inspired the audience with a Bible text taken from Hebrews 12:1: “...𝘭𝘦𝘵 𝘶𝘴 𝘳𝘶𝘯 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘦 𝘮𝘢𝘳𝘬𝘦𝘥 𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘶𝘴.” This scripture served as the foundation for encouraging the confirmands to stay steadfast and purposeful in their walk of faith.

An innovative and fun icebreaker activity helped the group to connect and feel at ease with one another. The room buzzed with energy as barriers dissolved and new friendships began to form.

Sister Cook went on to explain how the ten building blocks of the Young People in Christ (YPC) Structure are intricately linked, empowering young believers to remain grounded in their faith and focused on their ultimate goal; to be found worthy of God’s Kingdom.

By the end of the session, the confirmands not only had a clearer understanding of their new spiritual responsibilities, but also left inspired, motivated and connected.
