*WATER-CARRYING CLOUD*

_*Drip down, heavens, from above, And let the clouds pour down righteousness; Let the earth open up and salvation bear fruit, And righteousness sprout with it. I, the Lord, have created it (Isaiah 45:8 NASB).*_

Jude, in his epistle, appealed to God’s people to earnestly contend for the faith against the attack of false teachers. In the 4th verse of his inspiring epistle, he explained why we should aggressively defend the truth because some godless people had crept in stealthily. These are people who distorted the message about the grace of God in order to excuse their immoral ways, and those who disowned and denied Jesus Christ as the supreme authority and Lord.

Now, notice what he says about these same people in verses 11-12: _*“Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Core. These are spots in your feasts of charity, when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear: clouds they are without water, carried about of winds; trees whose fruit withereth, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots”*_ (Jude 1:11-12). He calls them “clouds without water, carried about by the winds; trees without fruit, twice dead, pulled up by the roots!”

But what does the Lord call us? First, look at Isaiah 61:3; it says, _*“To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.”*_ We’re trees of righteousness, producing fruits of righteousness.

Also, each one of us, according to Bible, is a cloud; we’re clouds of glory and clouds with water. That’s very significant because John 7:38 says, _*“He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.”*_ We’re fountains of living water. From your cloud, righteousness and salvation rain upon the earth. As a water-carrying cloud, you pour forth righteousness and salvation in the earth, just as our theme verse says.

Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend (Proverbs 27:17).

The Message translation of the theme verse says, “You use steel to sharpen steel, and one friend sharpens another” (Proverbs 27:17). Perhaps you’re concerned that your close friends, or others in your church, fellowship, cell or care-group aren’t as passionate about spiritual growth and God’s Word as they should be. You could even be the leader of such a group. The first place to begin is to check yourself, because hunger begets hunger. As the leader of the group, how rapacious is your appetite for the Word? How passionate are you about spiritual things?

Passion is palpable and infectious. What you’re hungry or passionate about, soon enough, will rub off on those around you. Haven’t you noticed that oftentimes, when people yawn, those around them may start yawning as well? Or once someone says, “I’m hungry”; others who are present and may also not have eaten, immediately become conscious of hunger.

If you have a ravenous appetite for God’s Word, those around you would cultivate the same hunger soon enough. Therefore, be the first to be on fire. Be the example of what you want to see in those you lead. Lead by example. For example, don’t just encourage them to pray; be a praying person yourself.

But if a pastor isn’t prayerful, and he’s calling for prayer meetings, he may be wasting his time, because those gatherings would be void of the Spirit. Copy Jesus, His devotion to the Scriptures, and to prayer. At a tender age, the Bible says He was in the temple courts, sitting among the teachers, listening, and asking them questions. Everyone who heard him was amazed at his understanding and His answers (Luke 2:41-47).

The Bible also tells us, “And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed” (Mark 1:35). In another instance, “…he went out into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God” (Luke 6:12). So, it’s got to begin with you. Spiritual or numerical growth isn’t a mystery, a miracle or an accident. It’s the application of revealed principles and means.

DECLARATION
Dear Father, I’m excited to always follow Christ’s pattern, model and example in all that I do. I imitate His disposition to the Word and prayer. I act and talk like Jesus, for as He is, so am I in this world. I express the character of Christ. Hallelujah!

LET'S TALK⏭
Many years ago, malaria and tuberculosis were dreaded as fatal diseases, because they were said to have no cure. Once contracted, death was inevitable. But as soon as man discovered the cure to these diseases, they were no longer regarded as death sentences.

Man fears what he has no knowledge of. Once he understands it, however, his fear goes. The mystery is taken away once knowledge arrives. It’s the same thing with the matters of faith. If we don’t understand how to apply our faith in a given situation, we become sceptical, judgmental, afraid, and unbelieving. But once we understand how it works, the confusion is removed; the mystery is dissolved.

Once you have accurate knowledge of the Word, nothing in life will mystify or discomfit you; no matter what the problem is, you just know that you’ll come out victoriously. Those who don’t know the Word are the ones who get overwhelmed by trouble and defeated by the crises of life. Get to know the Word. Have an insatiable appetite for God’s Word. Hosea 6:3 says, “Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the Lord…” (KJV). Getting the knowledge of God’s Word is one of the most important things you can do for yourself; that’s what will put you over in life, and keep you on the offensive against the adversary.

▶️ LET’S TALK
Have you ever wondered why people sin? Perhaps this thought has crossed your mind, and you’d like to know why. The answer is simple: it’s because of fear and selfishness. Thankfully, God provided you two awesome replacements to these two vices the moment you were born again: faith and love. If you walk by faith, you can’t live in fear and if you walk in love, you can’t be selfish. Therefore, if you function in faith and love, you can’t sin; nothing done by faith and love could ever be sin.

Love is also self-giving; when you love, you give. The Bible says, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son…” (John 3:16). Selfishness holds back, while love is considerate and puts others first. 1 John 4:18 says, “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.” If you’re born again, you’re born of love; you have the nature of love and righteousness, and you can live above and free of sin.

However, if you do something wrong, the Bible says, “My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world” (1 John 2:1-2).

And, also in Ephesians 1:7, it says, “In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace.” Therefore, all you need to do is say, “Father, I know that these things that I’ve done are wrong; I receive forgiveness, in the Name of Jesus.” That’s how you live free from sin and sin-consciousness.

Progress isn't accidental, it is not possible without a change, and those who cannot change their way of thinking cannot change their lives. Living a healthier or happier life is more than losing weight, it's about losing and changing the mindset and habits that got you there in the first place. You cannot change your character until you change your friends! Your circle determines the happenings in your life. Remember, you cannot change what you are unwilling to confront. And whatever it is you want to change with revealed truths, is always at your will._

WHY PRAY AND FAST?

“Commit your work to the Lord, then it will succeed.” Proverbs 16:3

“Vicky, do you have a list of your plans, goals, and dreams for the New Year? Everyone else have been sharing theirs,” Sherlyn, one of Victoria’s friends asked her.

“I don’t set goals simply based on my desires,” Victoria answered, “There’re prayer and fasting services coming up in my church; I spend time asking God for what He would have me do in the New Year. That’s when and how I set my goals.”

Like Victoria, you’re a spirit being; unlike those who set goals based on their emotions, you should set goals through the Spirit. A lot of times, people set goals and make different decisions in their lives without involving God, and this is where many miss it. The importance of fasting and prayer, in this regard, can’t be overemphasized. Fasting means that you separate yourself from everything else, especially food, while you spend time in fellowship with the Lord, talking to Him and praying in the Spirit concerning your goals and desires.

If you were working on a particular task, and you want to determine the next step to take, pray in the Spirit. The Holy Ghost will grant you utterance and unveil the mind of God to you, and you’ll know exactly the next step to take. Always commit your goals and desires to the Lord in prayer. Yes, there may be limitations; the goals can be such that you don’t even know how to begin praying about it. Trust the Holy Spirit. He’ll help you pray correctly.

Romans 8:26 says,“Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses.For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought,but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.” That clause, “the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses,” is better rendered, “The spirit bears us up in our weakness!” Don’t take any major decision in your life, without going in the way of the Spirit. It’ll save you a lot of troubles, and put you on the path of perpetual victory.

As you prepare for the New Year, commit your plans and goals to the Lord, and He’ll establish your path. What are your goals? What visions do you have? Commit them to Him and trust Him for guidance.

Dear Father, I thank you for the direction and leading of your Spirit for me in the coming year. I commit to your able hands my desires and goals for my family, my academics, and ministry in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

*IT’S ABOUT YOUR MIND*

_*And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind… (Romans 12:2).*_

When you were born again, you were imparted with the very life and nature of God at its best, and it can’t be improved. Plus that, you were given the very righteousness of God to which you can’t add. Also, you received the Holy Spirit in His full measure; nothing missing or left out. Furthermore, you’re inside the Kingdom; you’re a bona fide heavenly citizen NOW (Philippians 3:20 NIV).

We’ve all received the same nature of God, and the same Holy Spirit. We’re born into the same Kingdom, and dealt the same measure of faith; so, why the disparity in our lives and in our results? The reason must then rest in something else: the power and use of our individual minds!

If you’re going to change—if you’re going to see another you, a more influential, effective, powerful you—you must change your way of thinking. There must be a significant change in your mind. That you’ve become a Christian or received the Holy Spirit doesn’t mean your reasoning will change. That effort is your responsibility.

As read in our theme verse, God gave us the responsibility to change our way of thinking, to renew our minds with the Word of God. You have to literally submit yourself to the Word to change your mind and give you a new way of thinking.

It doesn’t matter that a Christian is quoting Scriptures; as long as those scriptures haven’t affected his mind, he’s not going to be different. That’s why we wrote the book “The Power of Your Mind.” The purpose of that book is in the title.

Everything about your life, including your Christian growth, has a lot to do with the use of your mind. So, ingest God’s Word into your mind; feed and meditate on the Word. The guaranteed impact will be a transformation in your whole being that’ll result in increased manifestation of the glory of God in your life! Success, excellence, victory, dominion and abundance will be the hallmark of your daily life. Hallelujah!
