Reckless Devotion | Don’t Spectate
Day 269
We are all human. As humans, it is natural for us to watch other people and be interested in their journey and their walk with God. It is good to walk alongside others, to stand with them and be accountable to them and aim to encourage them.
However, we need to be careful that we do not focus so much on what God is doing and saying to those around us that we forget to ask Him for fresh words for ourselves.
I don’t want to spend any of the rest of my life spectating or standing around watching God at work in other ministries. I love that He does that. I praise Him for all He is doing across the world, but I do not let it distract me from my own mission in Him.
It is easy to get discouraged when we see how God blesses others. We could be in a meeting and see someone get radically healed and restored. Maybe someone else is given a fresh anointing for ministry, but we haven’t felt a touch from God like that in a long time.
Should we get depressed about that? Of course not.
But sometimes we do.
If you are feeling a sense today that you need something fresh from God’s table, just for you, don’t wait until your prayer meeting or your church group. Don’t call your pastor or your friend. Just sit in His presence today and ask Him for the ability to hear what He hears and see what He is looking at and working on in your life.
