Word of God: Sister Mpho
Scripture: Luke 24:49
Theme: We will wait in Jerusalem.
Waiting means remaining still and pausing action with confidence that what God has promised will surely come to pass. We do not wait hopelessly; we wait with expectation. However, tarrying goes even deeper. Tarrying means continuing to remain in God’s presence even after receiving what we have been praying for. It is choosing to stay, seek, and pursue God for deeper revelation and greater encounters with His Spirit.
Many times the Holy Spirit instructs us to wait, but we become impatient and move before God’s appointed time. Yet there is a greater dimension of power, revelation, and spiritual maturity available to those who remain steadfast in His presence. God is looking for people who will stay.
In the Bible, Jerusalem was a physical location where the disciples gathered and waited for the promise of the Holy Spirit. Today, we have come to Mount Zion, and through Christ we can access God’s presence wherever we are. The challenge is not entering His presence, it is remaining there. Many believers miss what God wants to do because they do not stay long enough. Power is available, but we must remain in position to receive it.
There are things that God reveals only in the fullness of time. If the promise has not yet manifested, it does not mean you have been forgotten or delayed. Stay where God has placed you. Continue praying, believing, and obeying. The church is approaching a season where God’s power will be revealed in a mighty way, but we must be united as the Body of Christ. Unity closes the loopholes the enemy seeks to exploit.
We must also examine our position before God. Are we where He has called us to be? Are we doing what He has instructed us to do? Scripture warns that there is a way that seems right to a person but ultimately leads to destruction. We are soldiers in a spiritual battle. The church is not merely a place of comfort; it is a place where believers are equipped for spiritual warfare and called to holiness.
The church will only rise through holiness. We must ask ourselves: Are we holy as He is holy? If we ignore God’s standards, we risk leading one another away from His will instead of toward Him. Everything we need has already been provided by God. The instruments are available; what is required is our availability and obedience.
We must never forget that we are engaged in spiritual warfare. While we are praying for success, breakthroughs, and God’s promises, the enemy is also working against God’s purposes in our lives. This is why vigilance is necessary. Many fail to wait because they either do not know God well enough or they doubt His faithfulness. If God has spoken, He will surely fulfill His Word. Delays are not always because God is unfaithful; often there is a part that we must play through obedience, patience, and faith.
The power of God is available. Therefore, wait and do not become passive in your waiting. Wait actively, prayerfully, and watchfully. When God tells you to wait, wait with expectation. Do not sit as though no answer is coming. If God has promised a job, begin preparing for the interview. If God has promised a breakthrough, position yourself to receive it.
We must become a generation that sees the fulfillment of God’s promise even while waiting for it. The promise is available. The question is: How far can you see? Can you see beyond your current circumstances and into what God has already prepared for you? Stay. Tarry. Wait upon the Lord. His promise shall surely come to pass.
