SILVERSANDS CONGREGATION – A WEEKEND OF FELLOWSHIP AND BLESSING

Saturday 5th was a wonderful day of support, unity and fellowship in the Silversands Congregation.

Our members came together for the Spring Clean of the Church, supported the Congregation Fundraiser, and shared in a beautiful time of fellowship and comradery. The support from our members made the day a great success.

On Sunday, we gathered for our Friendship Divine Service, conducted by the Rector of the Congregation, Priest Ferdian Harmse.

Bible Text: 1 John 5:8
Theme: “The Saving Effect of the Sacraments”
Message: “We receive salvation in Christ visibly by receiving the sacraments.”

The Rector called upon Priest Anthony Harker to assist in serving the Congregation, and he further shared on the blessings and benefits of the sacraments.

The teaching reminded us that the divine Sonship of Jesus Christ is acknowledged by God the Father. The Spirit, the water and the blood point us to the saving effect of the sacraments administered in the Church of Christ. The sacraments are necessary for obtaining salvation in its fullness.

Our Choir, Orchestra and Sunday School Children made the service extra special through their beautiful music and singing.

After the Divine Service, a small fellowship was prepared, and everyone was warmly welcomed to join together, share in the refreshments and enjoy one another's company.

What a blessed weekend for Silversands Congregation — serving together, and fellowship in unity.

May we continue to grow together in Christ, supporting one another and keeping the love of Christ alive in our Congregation. We shall remain United!

■ Divine service, prayer, and fellowship are channels through which we can experience God’s presence.
■ One day, all fear will disappear completely when Jesus Christ takes His bride to Himself.

*Concerts in aid of Masakhe Foundation*

The Masakhe Foundation, the social outreach programme of the New Apostolic Church, is dedicated to serving our communities, irrespective of race, creed, gender, age, or religion. Their work is primarily voluntary, and as such, they require ongoing funding from donors to continue their community work.

If you wish to make a donation now or at any time during the year, please refer to the attached poster for donation methods and banking details. To further support the Masakhe Foundation, the auditoriums of Olympus in Pretoria and Silvertown in Cape Town will host benefit concerts on Sunday, 23 and 30 August 2026, respectively. Tickets are priced at R100, and all proceeds will be donated to the foundation. Ticket sales will open on Sunday, 19 July 2026, at 5 p.m.

The Silversands Congregation gathered on Sunday, 28 June 2026, for Divine Service conducted by Priest Norman de Wet, Rector of the Serepta Congregation.

The Text was taken from Jeremiah 29:11, under the theme: "Thoughts of Peace." Through the living Word, the Rector reminded the congregation that God gives us peace, hope, and a future. He encouraged everyone to hold firmly to God's promises, even during seasons of uncertainty, and emphasized the importance of living in the peace that only our Heavenly Father can give.

As the congregation now prepares for next Sunday's Service of the Departed, the Rector reflected on the thoughts and memories of those who have preceded us into the beyond. He reminded us that this sacred service is a time of intercession, remembrance, and hope as we prayerfully remember all those who rest in the beyond, trusting in God's eternal promises.

The Rector called upon Priest Mark de Bruyn, who shared a profound message on faith and hope. He remarked that "Hope is the daughter of Faith," while another translation says, "Hope is the mother of Faith." He then left the congregation with a powerful truth: "The one cannot exist without the other." His heartfelt encouragement was for every member to remain steadfast and faithful, trusting God in every circumstance.

Following the Divine Service, members enjoyed a warm time of fellowship and meet-and-greet in the foyer.

Adding to the joy of the day, the Young People once again demonstrated the spirit of serving with love. Together with Priest Craig Petersen and several Ministers, they visited Retired Priest Liberty at his home to serve him with Holy Communion and encourage him through fellowship, Word and Sacrament. Their willingness to serve God's children reflected the heart of Christ as they beautifully concluded a blessed day with singing.

May our Heavenly Father continue to prepare our hearts as we look forward with reverence to the upcoming Service of the Departed. May His peace remain with us, His hope sustain us, and His promise of a glorious future strengthen our faith.

Youth Month G2G Celebration – Friday, 26 June 2026

The Young People of the Silversands Congregation gathered on Friday, 26 June 2026, to celebrate Youth Month during a truly memorable G2G (Get Together). It was an evening filled with joy, fellowship, and spiritual encouragement, where the beautiful spirit of Unity and Diversity was clearly evident in every interaction.

A heartfelt word of appreciation is extended to Sister Erica and Brother Stanley Willemse for graciously opening their home and warmly welcoming everyone. Your hospitality created a wonderful atmosphere of love and togetherness.

Our sincere thanks also go to the Events Team for their dedication and support, to our Ministers for being a constant guiding light and source of encouragement, and to every individual who contributed their time, talents, and efforts in making this special occasion possible.

Above all, we give all praise, honour, and glory to our Heavenly Father for His continued love, grace, and abundant blessings. It is a privilege to witness our young people growing from strength to strength in faith, character, and unity.

May we continue to stand together as one Family in Christ, united in love, strengthened by faith, and committed to serving God with joyful hearts.
