Youth Month 2026

This year we commemorate 50 years since the events of June 1976, when brave students sacrificed their lives for freedom and quality education.

The Students’ Christian Organisation (SCO) Chris Hani Region observes the beginning of Youth Month.

While honouring their legacy, we recognise the persistent challenges facing young people today, high unemployment, limited access to quality education, poverty, student debt, substance abuse, and loss of hope.

As Christian students, we stand firm in faith that God has a greater plan for this generation. This Youth Month, in line with SCO Aims 2.3 and 2.4, we will actively respond with compassion to the needs of society, work for peace, righteousness and justice, and remain involved in issues facing students on our campuses.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11)

Let us rise in faith, unity, and courage!
