God has been showing me what a season of giving birth truly looks like. He gave me a picture of an animal in the process of giving birth. It begins with labour pains; a period of restlessness and discomfort. Then comes the moment when the baby is ready to come forth. The animal becomes so uneasy that she lies down one moment and stands the next, constantly shifting to find any position that offers a bit of relief.
God revealed to me that it is in that moment that both the mother and the child are most vulnerable, exposed to elements both internal and external. Internally, the mother wrestles with pain and discomfort, yet instinctively does all she can to preserve the new life coming through. Externally, there are threats such as predators waiting to devour both mother and child. This is why many animals go into isolation before giving birth and only reappear when the birthing is complete, carrying their precious bundle of joy.
In all of this, I noticed something profound: animals endure this process without the help of a nurse or midwife. But we, as children of God, have been given the perfect Midwife - the Holy Spirit.
Our season of breakthrough and birthing often comes with attacks, confusion, and resistance. We face battles within our minds, questioning whether God still hears us or even sees us. We become so focused on the storm that we fail to see the beauty of what is unfolding before us.
It is therefore crucial to recognize and understand the season of your birthing so that you may draw closer to the Midwife through prayer, the Word, and worship. Before you know it, you will be holding your precious promise.
I declare to you now, that before the curtains of 2025 close, you will carry your promise in the Mighty name of Jesus Christ. Do not focus on the storm; instead, follow the voice of the Midwife. He will lead you all the way through.
Shalom!
