Today would have been one of those days when we would all go out of our way to show you just how much you mean to us all. We would wish you a happy birthday and your signature response "zvema birthday ndezve madzimai nevana vadiki Matemai" (birthdays are for women and children Matemai).

You lived, you loved and you shaped us for life and beyond. It is because of you and your love, wisdom, counsel, prayers, rebuke, discipline and sacrifice that I grew from being a boy into a man.

Everything I know about God, life, business, politics, family history, and people relations I learnt at your feet. I miss the hundreds of afternoons we spent in your office as you groomed and chiselled me into who I am today.

Your words of wisdom have proven useful. As if you knew what we would have to face once you were no longer here.

When I get to heaven, I am so looking for you first, we need to have a mean catch up Matemai.

Rest in peace Tawengwa Senior.
