REST
What is REST?
In my mind it is when you do nothing.
Somehow, when we “REST”, we tend to think that means not reading your Bible, not praying, not talking to God – just doing nothing, coz all that is effort, and when we rest, well, we do nothing!
But in this past week God spoke to me and said that we have a misconception about rest.
Yes, rest is important.
Yes, going on holiday, or taking a break, going in leave... all of it is important.
Yes, doing little to nothing while you rest, is important, but most importantly we must REST in GOD!
Without that kind of rest, you will never have peace, or real rest.
REST in God – While you go through the hustle & bustle of life.
REST in God – While you are on holiday.
REST in God – When you are sick.
REST in God – When you are healthy.
REST in God – When you are desperate for a prayer to be answered.
REST in God – After your prayer just got answered.
REST in God – When things don’t go your way.
REST in God – When things do go your way.
Without REST in GOD, you will never experience rest & peace.
Without REST in GOD, you will never experience joy indescribable.
Resting in God, means to acknowledge Who God is in your situation & circumstances.
God is, and will always be EVERYTHING that you need.
True rest, is when you know Who God is.
True rest is when you realize that God is fighting for you, while you rest, recover, & recuperate
REST is when you realize that your only REST is found in HIM.
God is the REST that you are truly after.
REST is not something you do – REST is found in knowing Who God is.
R – Jehovah RAPHA (The Lord that heals) – REST! He will heal you!
E – Jehovah ELOHIM (Lord God) – REST! He is your God! He is for you!
S – Jehovah SHALOM (The Lord our Peace) – REST! He is your peace!
T – Jehovah TSIDKENU (The Lord our Righteousness) – REST! He will fight for you!
There are so many other names that represent God, and I encourage you to read about them, and remind yourself to REST, knowing, that He Who is for you, and in you, is so much Greater, and so much more than what is trying to come against you.
