KZNCC CHAIPERSON'S RADIO INTERVIEW

Today, the KwaZulu-Natal Christian Council (KZNCC) marked another important milestone in its ongoing 30th Anniversary celebrations as the Chairperson of KZNCC, Presiding Bishop Nkosinathi Myaka, featured in a special live radio interview on the _Midday Breeze_ Show on Midlands 104 FM hosted by Andile Mthembu from 13h00 to 14h00.

The Presiding Bishop was accompanied by KZNCC CEO, Dr Douglas Dziva, as part of a broader media engagement strategy aimed at reflecting on KZNCC’s 30 years of ecumenical witness, servant leadership, advocacy, and community transformation across KwaZulu-Natal.

Today’s discussion served as an introductory session laying the foundation for a powerful upcoming radio series that will unpack the identity, governance, programmes, and prophetic role of KZNCC within society. The conversation touched on the background and scope of the Presiding Bishop’s leadership, the provincial footprint of KZNCC across all districts of KwaZulu-Natal, the organisation’s partnerships and disaster response work, as well as the urgent need for ethical leadership within the church, government, and business sectors.

The interview further reflected on the role of churches in addressing social challenges such as corruption, violence, drugs, and killings, while also exploring the state of democracy and the importance of active citizen participation ahead of future elections.

The upcoming series will continue to engage critical and relevant societal themes including:
• Governance and inclusivity within the ecumenical movement
• The role of the church in democracy and nation-building
• Corruption and moral regeneration
• Gender-Based Violence and social justice
• Migration and the church in South Africa
• LGBTQI+ matters, theology, rights, and the church
• The meaning of “Holding God’s hand and standing with the poor and marginalised”

As KZNCC celebrates 30 years under the theme of unity, justice, peace, and prophetic witness, these conversations form part of strengthening public engagement and deepening the role of the church in shaping a just and peaceful KwaZulu-Natal.

A powerful and impactful community outreach was held in partnership with the Nelson Mandela Children's Fund, King Cetshwayo Christian Council, KwaZulu-Natal Christian Council, and the University of Zululand.

The engagement brought together communities involved in children’s programmes, alongside key stakeholders committed to child development and protection.

Programme Director Mr Mxolisi Nyuswa served as MC, while the NMCF CEO delivered a compelling keynote address. Rev Khumalo (KZNCC) provided a thought-provoking response on the current state of children in KwaZulu-Natal, calling for stronger church involvement in shaping a better future for our children.

We were encouraged by the presence of local women and critical partners, including the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Social Development.

Together, we continue to stand for the wellbeing, protection, and empowerment of every child.

Strengthening Democracy Through Dialogue

On Thursday, 23 April 2026, the KwaZulu-Natal Christian Council (KZNCC) had the honour of hosting a meaningful Stakeholder Engagement with the Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) at our Multipurpose Hall in Pietermaritzburg.

This engagement formed part of the IEC’s province-wide consultations held from 20–24 April 2026, aimed at strengthening democracy, enhancing voter participation, and preparing for the upcoming 2026 Local Government Elections.

The session provided a valuable platform for:
-Updates and discussions on the roadmap towards the forthcoming elections
-Reflecting on the current state of democracy and voter participation in KwaZulu-Natal
-Strengthening partnerships between the church, civil society, and electoral bodies
-Encouraging active citizenship and ethical leadership within communities

As KZNCC, guided by our vision “For a Just and Peaceful KZN”, we remain committed to walking alongside institutions like the IEC in fostering a democratic society rooted in justice, peace, and unity.

The presence of church leaders, civil society, interfaith partners, and IEC leadership reaffirmed the vital role of collaborative engagement in building public trust and participation in electoral processes.

Together, we continue to echo our calling:
“That they may be one” (John 17:21)

Looking back with gratitude… 🙏🏽✨

On Friday, 20 March 2026, the KwaZulu-Natal Christian Council (KZNCC) gathered at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Pietermaritzburg for a sacred Prayer Service marking 30 years of ecumenical existence.

Though a few days have passed, the significance of this moment continues to resonate. The service was a powerful reflection on our shared calling: “That they may be one” (John 17:21).

For three decades, KZNCC has remained a beacon of unity, justice, and peace, faithfully advancing its vision of For a Just and Peaceful KZN.

Over 40 stakeholders were in attendance, including Chairpersons of District Christian Councils from across all 11 districts of KwaZulu-Natal, demonstrating the strength and breadth of our ecumenical movement.

We were further honoured by the presence of His Worship, the Deputy Mayor of Msunduzi Municipality - City of Choice, Cllr. Mxolisi Theophilus Mkhize, who joined the service and delivered a meaningful message of support.

The service was also graced by leaders from our partner organisations, including Rev. Theuns Pauw of African Enterprise South Africa and Professor Simanga R. Kumalo from UKZN Ujamaa Centre and
School of Religion, Philosophy and Classics, reflecting the depth of collaboration within the ecumenical and academic community.

Clergy, church leaders, and congregants came together in worship, prayer, and thanksgiving—honouring the journey, the sacrifices, and the enduring commitment to unity in the Body of Christ.

This commemorative service marks the beginning of our 30-year celebrations, with a larger gathering to follow during the AGM in August 2026.

We extend our sincere appreciation to all who joined us and contributed to making this occasion meaningful.

VENUE CHANGE ALERT!!

Please note the new venue: 2273 Motlhatsoa Street, Pimville, Zone 2

Join us for Women’s World Day of Prayer as we gather in faith, reflection, and sisterhood.

“Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28–30

This year’s theme reminds us that when women draw closer to Christ, they find rest, renewal, and strength for the journey.
Across the world, women are rising in prayer and when women pray, families are strengthened, communities are healed, and the Body of Christ is united. A global movement of prayer is powerful because it connects hearts across nations in one Spirit, one hope, and one faith.
