A MESSAGE FROM BISHOP STEPHEN DISEKO, VICAR-GENERAL OF ACSA

At the recent meeting of the Synod of Bishops, Archbishop Thabo Makgoba licensed Bishop Stephen Diseko as Vicar-General of the Province during his absence on sabbatical. Bishop Stephen, who is already Dean of the Province, will be responsible for administering the “Spiritualities” of the Province and maintaining discipline according to the Canons. Upon the Archbishop's departure to the Netherlands, Bishop Stephen wrote the following message to the Province:

If you carry something sacred, you do not bow. You must show reverence by how you carry it.
You might ask the question "but what about the Thurifer and Boat boy or Boat girl with the Thurible and Boat which is also something sacred and they must bow before and after incensing the Priest"
Answer: This bow is a bow of respect to the person, not to the Thurible or Boat.
