“The wisdom of this world is foolishness in the eyes of God.” — 1 Corinthians 3:19

Today, St. Paul reminds us that human wisdom is limited before the wisdom of God. We often rely on our own understanding, plans, and arguments, yet true wisdom begins with humility and trust in God.

A PASTORAL VISIT OF ENCOUNTER AND COMMUNION

On Saturday, 29 August 2026, the Most Rev. Duncan Theodore Tsoke, Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Kimberley, made a pastoral visit to the Magneding District in the Kuruman Deanery.

The visit was a beautiful opportunity for the Bishop to be close to the people entrusted to his pastoral care—to pray with them, listen to them, encourage them, and share in their joys and hopes as a community of faith.

Such pastoral encounters remind us that the Church is a family, journeying together in faith, hope and love. We are grateful to the clergy, religious, and faithful of Magneding District for their warm welcome and for their continued commitment to the mission of Christ.

May the Lord continue to strengthen our communion and guide us as we journey together as one family of God.

“I am with you always, to the end of the age.” — Matthew 28:20

PUT GOD AT THE CENTRE

We may plant and water, but only God gives the growth.

Whatever we are and whatever we achieve is possible because God has made it possible. We are only instruments and messengers of His grace.

Let us serve with humility, give generously, and never take the glory that belongs to God.

🙏 May God keep us humble, faithful and grateful.

“Only God, who makes things grow.” — 1 Corinthians 3:7

The spiritual person, as St. Paul tells us, “is able to judge the value of everything.” This does not mean that we become people who condemn others. Rather, we receive the wisdom to distinguish what is good from what is evil, what builds up from what destroys, and what comes from God from what leads us away from Him.

True Christian wisdom is not knowing everything; it is knowing Christ, trusting Him, and allowing His Cross to shape our lives.

The Christian life will sometimes demand that we forgive when it is difficult, remain faithful when others abandon us, speak the truth when it is unpopular, and continue serving God even when we are not appreciated.

How quickly we forget where we came from! Before God lifted us, we were nothing. Yet, when blessings come, we can easily begin to think that we achieved everything by our own strength. Even disappointments can make us forget the goodness God has already shown us.
