THE CHURCH BELIEVES THE OPPOSITE OF WHAT THE LORD TAUGHT

RESURRECTION SUNDAY
Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation - John 5:28-29
There will be two resurrections at the end of the age, the resurrection of life and the resurrection of damnation. Those who would have done wicked works will be part of the resurrection of damnation, and they’ll be judged with eternal fire in the lake of fire. However, only those who would have done good works will be part of the resurrection of life, and they’ll be rewarded with eternal life.
The modern Church preaches the exact opposite of this. It’s absolutely amazing that our generation of the Church believes that you don’t have to do anything to receive eternal life. Romans 2:7 says, ‘To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, he will give eternal life.’ Those who are persistent in doing good works in this world, because they seek glory, honour, and immortality in the world to come, God will reward them with eternal life.
Eternal life is a gift, however, only in the sense that it’s something that’s given. We must run our race with perseverance in this life first, and at the end of our race, we’ll be given a crown of life, if we overcome this age. Yes, we have eternal life now because we were born with it, however, we must fight the good fight of faith in this life and lay hold on eternal life. Should we stop fighting the good fight of faith, we’ll lose eternal life. Eternal life is not for those who would have called Jesus Christ ‘Lord,’ and yet refused to obey His commandments. Eternal life is for those who would have done good works. That’s why in the end, He’ll say to them, Well DONE, thou GOOD and faithful servant…’ It’s time to do good works.
PRAYER
Father, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, I pray that I may do an abundance of good works in this life, so that You may lavish me with many rewards in the life to come, including eternal life. Amen.
