Disabled Man at the pool of Bethesda Part 2.
John 5:1-9
For 38 yrs this man lived with disability, 38 yrs he saw others walk by able bodied, 38 yrs he saw some like him being healed, 38 yrs he hoped for healing. Imagine the disappointment, the pain, dismay, hopelessness he might have gone through all those years. I believe many things came to his mind, maybe at some point he thought he was cursed, maybe even felt God didnot love him or God never heard his cries, prayers or maybe even questioned the existence and power of God.
How many times have we felt that way too, how many times have we looked at the troubles we face and felt hopeless, how many times have we felt like giving up, or even questioned God's love, God's existence, his presence or that he hears our cries for help. We look around and see others being blessed and yet problems on our side mount. We see others prospering but we suffer endlessly, the more we pray the more trouble comes. We see the unrighteous, the unbelievers becoming successful, having what we desire and yet us who believe disaster looms. For years we have prayed, even fasted, put all our hope, faith and trust in God but no change seems to come our way, no help is found.
Now let's look at the man by the poolside, Jesus comes after 38 yrs of suffering and in an instant he is healed. Not only is he healed but he is completely healed. Years of pain, disappointment, maybe had been rejected and abandoned by loved ones, this might have scarred him emotionally, mentally, spiritually,affected his faith and trust, he might have been abused by people because of his disability so his healing required complete and whole healing. And in an instant he is made whole. All the scars of the 38yrs of suffering are healed just in a matter of seconds.
Whatever situation you are facing, despite the years you have been struggling, despite the amount of pain and suffering you have endured, God comes at the right time and in a second he heals you completely.
