The word of God
By:Apostle Mosikili
Topic:Order of success
Scripture:Joshua 1

-Joshua just lost Moses and has to lead Israel into the Promised Land. He’s scared and overwhelmed.

God tells him 3 things:
1. Be strong & courageous– Fear is real, but God’s with him. God says “be strong and courageous” in this chapter.

2.Obey God’s Word– Success comes from meditating on the Law day & night, not just doing what feels right.

3.God is with you– “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” He doesn’t go alone.

-When God gives you a big assignment, He also gives you His presence and His Word. Your job is to walk boldly and obey.

Scripture:Exodus 2 verse 4-6

Meaning:

God’s providence>God was working behind the scenes - guiding Moses’ parents, the basket, the river’s current, and Pharaoh’s daughter’s heart.

God sees and cares for the helpless>The baby’s cry gets God’s attention and moves Pharaoh’s daughter. It mirrors how God hears Israel’s cries in slavery later in.

Deliverance begins small>Moses’ rescue starts with a baby’s cry and a princess’s pity, but it leads to the deliverance of all Israel.

This passage is often used to show that God can use unexpected people and situations to accomplish His plan, and that He cares for the vulnerable.

Exodus 17 verse 8-10

A.Victory comes through God, not just human strength
-When Moses held up his hands, Israel prevailed; when he lowered them, Amalek prevailed. The commentaries explain this shows that Israel’s success depended on Moses’ intercession and God’s power, not just Joshua’s sword. “The church’s cause is more or less successful, as her friends are more or less strong in faith, and fervent in prayer”.

B. Prayer and action work together
-God calls people to different roles for the good of His people. Joshua fights, Moses prays, both minister to Israel. Neither alone would have won.

C. Typological meaning
• Moses on the hill interceding = Christ interceding for us in heaven.
• Joshua = a type of Christ as the one who leads God’s people to victory.
• The rod = God’s authority and power.

D. God’s promise against Amalek
-Amalek’s attack was more than a battle - it was defiance against God’s people. God declares He will blot out the memory of Amalek, showing that God defends His people against enemies who oppose Him.

4. Application
1. We need both action and prayer: You can’t just pray and not act, or just act and not pray.

2. We need help to keep praying: Moses got tired and needed Aaron and Hur to hold his hands up. We’re meant to support each other in prayer.

Scripture:Hebrews 11

Hebrews 11 in short about faith:

Hebrews 11 shows that faith means trusting God and acting on His promises even when you can’t see the outcome.

It lists people like Abel, Noah, Abraham, and Moses who obeyed God, waited on Him, and kept going through hardship because they believed He is real and keeps His word.

Core idea: Faith is believing God is trustworthy enough to stake your life on what He said, not just what you see.

Hebrews 12:1 in short:

Because of all the faithful people before us who prove God is trustworthy, drop the sin and distractions that slow you down, and keep running the life God has set out for you with endurance.

Scripture:John 1 verse 13-14

John 1 verse 13
13.who were born, not of blood [natural conception], nor of the will of the flesh [physical impulse], nor of the will of man [that of a natural father], but of God [that is, a divine and supernatural birth—they are born of God—spiritually transformed, renewed, sanctified].

Meaning:
>Being God’s child isn’t inherited. You don’t get into God’s family just because your parents are Christian, or because you’re from a certain family/tribe.

>You can’t make yourself “born again” through willpower, good deeds, religious rituals, or human decisions.

>New birth is God’s work. It’s a supernatural, spiritual rebirth that God initiates.

>You can’t give birth to yourself. In the same way, you can’t make yourself a child of God. God does it when you receive Jesus. It’s grace, not effort.

>Unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.

John 1 verse 14
14. And the Word (Christ) became flesh, and lived among us; and we [actually] saw His glory, glory as belongs to the [One and] only begotten Son of the Father, [the Son who is truly unique, the only One of His kind, who is] full of grace and truth (absolutely free of deception).

Meaning:
The Word became flesh: “The Word” = Jesus.
He existed eternally with God and is God. At a point in history, He became human. God didn’t stay distant. He entered our world.

Dwelt among us: The Greek word means “pitched His tent” or “tabernacled.” It’s like God’s presence in the Old Testament tabernacle, but now in person through Jesus. Jesus lived among us, shared our joys, pain, and daily life.

We have seen His glory: The disciples saw Jesus’ glory — not flashy human glory, but God’s glory: His presence, grace, and truth breaking into the world. It’s the glory of the Father’s only Son.

Full of grace and truth: Jesus came bringing undeserved love/grace and the reality of who God is. No deception, no faking.

Importance:

Your relationship with God isn’t about trying harder. It starts with being born of God through faith in Jesus.
God came close. He didn’t stay far off. In Jesus, God lived with us, so we could know Him personally.
In Jesus you see God’s true character: full of grace and truth.
