During the Pentecost service of the New Apostolic Church in Cape Town, Helge Mutschler was ordained as Chief Apostle. He succeeds Chief Apostle Jean-Luc Schneider, who retired after serving in this ministry for thirteen years at the head of the global Church. The divine service was broadcast worldwide and followed by New Apostolic Christians across the globe.
The transition had been prepared well in advance. As early as Pentecost 2025, Chief Apostle Schneider had assigned Helge Mutschler as Chief Apostle Helper, thereby designating him as his successor.
Chief Apostle Schneider based his sermon on a passage from the first epistle to the Corinthians: “For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body” (1 Corinthians 12: 13). He said that the church is the visible body of Christ and that it bears witness to the presence and work of Jesus Christ among humanity. Christ Himself leads His church, Jean-Luc Schneider said. “Not a single member is superfluous,” he stressed.
Helge Mutschler, born in Tübingen in 1974, holds a doctorate in law. Before entering the service of the Church full-time, he worked as a lawyer and held senior positions within the self-governing body of the tax consultancy profession. He received his first ministerial mandate in 1994. In 2015, then, Chief Apostle Jean-Luc Schneider ordained him as an Apostle. Helge Mutschler is married and the father of two children.
Although this ordination marks the beginning of a new chapter for the New Apostolic Church, its mission remains unchanged: to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ, to prepare believers for the return of Christ, and to foster the unity of the Church.
Chief Apostle Jean-Luc Schneider had led the international Church since 2013. His ministry was characterized by theological clarification, international cooperation, and a commitment to ensuring that the Church remained centered on Christ in a changing world. Although his retirement concludes his service as Chief Apostle, his close connection to the Church and its members

Called to bear witness!

Message
Let us bear witness to Jesus Christ.

Bible text: Acts 1:8
"But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth."

On Sunday 17th May our Rector Priest, Raville Jansen, conducted the Divine Service in preparation for Pentecost. The congregation was also joyful to witness the 25th wedding anniversary blessing bestowed on Priest Grahams Abrahams and his dear wife, Lisel Abrahams.

Remaining focused!

Bible text: Philippians 3:13–14
"Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead,
I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus."

On Sunday, 10 May, our Rector, Priest Raville Jansen, served the congregation, and Priest Brian Apies was asked to serve alongside him.

This Word served as a beautiful reminder to remain focused on our goal of faith, which is made possible through Christ. It was also a special occasion where we honoured and remembered the mothers for their hard work, dedication, and responsibility towards their children, families, and neighbours.

The congregation was furthermore joyful to witness the wedding blessing bestowed upon Brother Nigel October and Sister Nolene Swarts. We wish them great joy, love, and God’s richest blessings as they begin this new journey together.

Summary
■ Let us remain focused on the goal of our faith.
■ We must run the race with faithfulness and endurance.
■ The goal of eternal life is founded on the hope we have been given through the resurrection of Jesus.
■ Let us commit to completing the race.

On Sunday, 19 April, our ministers conducted Sunday School lessons in the Elsies River District. Our children truly enjoyed the special one-on-one time with our bearers of blessing, while the ministers found great joy in engaging with them. It was a meaningful and uplifting hour spent together in the house of the Lord.

The countdown to Pentecost

As we prepare for Pentecost 2026, we look forward to a celebration marked by the visit of Chief Apostle Jean-Luc Schneider, Chief Apostle Helper Helge Mutschler, the District Apostles and their Helpers from around the globe, commemorating the outpouring of the Holy Spirit.

In the build-up to the festive day of Pentecost, the Chief Apostle Helper, District Apostles, and District Apostle Helpers will conduct midweek divine services across the Greater Cape Town Metro area. The Chief Apostle and his entourage will also engage in the International District Apostle Meeting (DAMI) over the following two days. In addition, they will attend a concert in Silvertown on Saturday, 23 May, which will be broadcast globally.

The Chief Apostle will conduct the Pentecost divine service on Sunday, 24 May, from Tafelsig Church in Cape Town, South Africa. The divine service will be broadcast via NACTV on the free-to-air set-top box, YouTube and Cape TV and will commence at 10 a.m.

Easter Sunday!
Encounter with the risen Christ!

Bible text: John 20:17–18
"Jesus said to her, “Do not cling to Me, for I have not yet ascended to My Father; but go to My brethren and say to them, ‘I am ascending to My Father and your Father, and
to My God and your God.’” Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples that she had seen the Lord, and that He had spoken these things to her."

Bible reading: Mark 16:1–15

Message
The resurrection is central to our faith.

Today we celebrated the Resurrection of Christ, a most joyous occasion that we are privileged to be part of through the sacrifice of our Lord Jesus Christ, not only for us, but also for our neighbours and those in yonder world.

Our Divine Service was conducted by our Rector Priest, Raville Jansen, and was assisted by Priest Peter Wilson. The Bible reading was done by Sister Carlin Harker.

Today served as a powerful reminder of God’s love for us, revealed through His victory over death. It affords us the opportunity to experience salvation and redemption from sin and is the foundation of our faith.

Summary
■ The resurrection of Jesus Christ confirms His divine Sonship and
the gospel.
■ The resurrection is the foundation of our faith.
■ Let us share the joy of the resurrection with our neighbour.
