Let's pray for our country this is the year whereby things won't be like any other year and once we ahear rumour of death of someone pray coz our government will still lose people who are known but we need prayers not to pointing fingers at each other... No matter how wrong or right they may maybe they were chosen by God let's pray for them (Roman's 13:1)

Word for Today: This year...first things first

Today's Scripture:'Teach us to use wisely all the time we have.'
Psalm 90:12 CEV

We all get twenty-four hours in a day. That's 1,440 minutes, or 86,400 seconds. And we 'must give an account to God' for how we use them (see Ecclesiastes 11:9). A good place to start is by asking yourself, 'How would I spend the next twenty-four hours if I knew I would stand before God tomorrow?' Your answer can help you prioritise your life. Think about it: if somebody steals your car, you can get another one. If they steal your wallet, a few phone calls to the bank usually resolves the matter. But who can you call when you lose your time?

How you spend your time is how you spend your life! Ephesians 5:16 says, 'Make every minute count' (CEV), so learn to do these:

(1) Stop saying yes to everybody. When your spiritual gut says no, but your people-pleasing gut says yes, go with your spiritual gut. Jesus did. It's what enabled him to tell his Father, 'I have finished the work...you have given me to do' (John 17:4 NKJV). Don't let the good rob you of the best; back off on some activities so you can excel in others.

(2) Be led by the Spirit, not the flesh. Paul says, 'If you are guided by the Spirit, you won't obey your selfish desires' (Galatians 5:16 CEV). Furthermore, when you walk in the Spirit, you burn the oil, not the wick; the Holy Spirit supplies you with strength.

(3) Put first things first. A mark of real maturity is doing what you don't feel like doing when you don't feel like doing it.

So, in 2024, put first things first - and keep them there!_

Prayer for Today : My Father in heaven, help me not to be distracted by the things of this world. I want to prioritise your will in all of my daily programs. In Jesus' name..... Amen.

Today's Word: Be the Smile of God.

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE: _"Jacob said, “Please. If you can find it in your heart to welcome me, accept these gifts. When I saw your face, it was as the face of God smiling on me.”_ Genesis 33:10.

Genesis 25 and 27 record two deceptions by Jacob that resulted in such great losses for his brother, Esau, that he vowed to kill Jacob. For many years, the brothers lived estranged. Finally, the day came when Jacob returned to his home, only to hear that Esau was coming to meet him with four hundred men. Vengeance seemed certain. But when Esau saw Jacob, he ran to him and hugged him, weeping and welcoming Jacob back. Jacob was so moved by Esau’s kindness that he said, “Seeing your face was as the face of God smiling on me!”

_Life is not about getting revenge and hurting people who hurt you. It’s easy to try to pay someone back, ignore them, and make them suffer. All that’s doing is holding you down. Why don’t you be the smile of God and show them the kindness they don’t deserve? When you’re the smile of God, He’ll make sure people smile back on you._

PRAYER FOR TODAY: _“Father, thank You for all of the times that You have loved me and smiled on me when I deserved neither. Help me to be forgiving, merciful, and kind to those who have done wrong to me. I want to be Your smile to those who don’t deserve it. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

When we were living in Ebonyi state there was this tall slim guy who owned a restaurant at the back of our compound.

His food tastes nice but he doesn't get customers. What this guy does is every day after he finishes cooking he will be going from shop to shop and house to house reminding people he sells food and they should come and patronize him.

Sometimes this guy will cook and the next day the food will get spoiled due to lack of electricity then in Abakaliki. So what he does was any food that remains before he goes home he will still call he's neighbors to come and pack the food instead of the food to spoil.

All this was happening around 2014. This guy didn't give up despite he doesn't make too much sales. Then around 2016, he started selling roasted bush meat, Nkwobi, palm wine, and roasted catfish too. He gradually turned his restaurant into a beer parlor and customers started coming.

The small spot couldn't accommodate his customers and he rented an empty land which many of us knew how he got the place with loans he took.

Around 2019 the place started booming. Me and my friends go there two or three times a month. What I normally eat there is nkwobi or Nsala soup and if you taste what they prepare there àla agbà godî small. Oh, I forgot to tell you he then got married and started running the new place with his wife.

Last year the pictures of this guy were all over Facebook. People were dragging him that he was using water bathed from a déàd body to cook and that was why he was having massive customers. I quickly called one of my friends in Abakaliki because I had left Abakaliki already. Immediately she picked the first thing she said to me was:
Amaka you have implicated me oh how do I start vomiting what I've eaten from this guy you introduced me to?
What she was saying wasn't what I wanted to confirm from her I ended the call instantly.

I told myself this guy couldn't handle this because I knew him too well. I started commenting on every post they m
