We're launching the Portuguese version of Why African Cities (WAC) this week here in Brazil (Sao Paulo). We're also engaging Brazilian church and marketplace leaders on City Impact Training.
Church must firmly articulate God's Creation Design in its various forms, including His plan for cities. In this way, Church becomes the thought leader and a torch bearer - the vanguard of human civilization.
WAC is a vision that we must also cast for political leaders and municipal authorities. If we seek shalom (God's order) in our cities and communities, then we must have a meaningful engagement with those (politicians) who raise their hands (through the electoral process) with the promise to deliver on shalom.
We are called, not only to pray for shalom, but to also seek (research) it (Jer. 29:7). This is linked to our redemption mandate - the salvation of all people (1 Tim. 2:1-4).
This Portuguese version of WAC will facilitate an affective engagement with South America in particular and Latin America in general.
It's also strategic in this time of deeper Africa-Brazil engagement. There's deep history linking Africa and Brazil (South America in general) going back to the African slave trade - it must be redeemed.
The Global South is also coming of age and self-mobilizing. Church stands to represent God's intent in all these developments. .org
