God's love and care for man (and woman)

Quite often, actually very often, we are reminded of how God created heaven, earth and man (Genesis 1).

However, what we, in fact I, have probably read, but not given attention to, is that God also created the animals, fish and birds. Why did God created the animals, fish and birds - He created them after He said to Himself that it is not good for man to be alone. So God did not create animals fish and birds just for the sake of creating them, but He created them for and with purpose - that it be companions for man. He cared so much that He used His creating powers to create the animals, fish and birds specially for man.

Just think of how much one appreciates it when someone give you a present, a call or message on your birthday or special event. Now how much more should we appreciate God for creating not only heaven and earth, but also the animals, fish and birds as our companions.

But He did not stop there - after having created them, He took them to man (Adam) so Adam could name them. Is that not trust, is that not love that God not only created them but that He wanted Adam to name them so that he (Adam) could relate to them.

It is important that we remind ourselves who we are in Christ, that we remind ourselves that God is a loving and caring Father who will stop at nothing to ensure that we are happy and that we have life and have it more abundantly

God bless

Blood is thicker than water - adversity brings families together

1 Samuel 17 tells of the story where David takes food, at his father's instruction to his 3 eldest brothers who followed Saul into battle in war zone between Israel and the Philistines. Upon David's arrival at the war zone, his eldest brother, Eliab, got angry with David stating that he knows David's presumption and evilness of heart.

This chapter further tells of how David kills Goliath, the giant and the following chapters tells us that Saul took David into his palace and eventually Saul's intention to kill David.

David fled and escaped to the cave of Adullam; and when his brothers and all his father's house heard it, they went down there to him. It is important to note that nowhere in preceding chapters is there any indication that David and his brothers ever made peace or at least spoke to each other after Eliab scolded David at the war zone. The fact that David turned his back on Eliab, basically ignoring him, after Eliab scolded him, should be considered in the light that in those days, the eldest brother was considered to be, the next head of the house, after the father. This means that it was a serious matter to ignore the elders and I am certain that Eliab did not take lightly.

Could it be that due David killing Goliath and thereafter been taken into the palace have softened the hearts of his brothers, especially that of Eliab. We don't know as the Word of God is silent thereon. What is clear is that when David's family heard that David is in trouble, they did not hesitate to rush to him to be near him and help him, despite what happened in the past between him and Eliab. I am sure that Eliab, being the eldest brother, would have had a say in whether the family should go to David or not and therefore the issue between him and David became a non-issue due to David being in trouble.

Today the world is fighting a war against an unseen enemy being Covid-19 and in an attempt to reduce the spread thereof various countries have implemented lockdowns. This resulted in people not being able to work to earn income reducing their ability to buy food, etc.

The question is: Are we rushing to assist those in need, especially our families who are perhaps not as fortunate as us to have food in our houses. Are we like David's brothers, who despite their differences, overlooked those differences and rush to make sure that they can assist him. Remember, these are the same brothers who followed Saul into war against the Philistines who now, in them assisting David, actually defies Saul, the king's, instruction that nobody should help David and that such people will be killed.

I pray that we, will like David's brothers and other family members, will rush to assist - not to be seen, but out of genuine love and compassion for our families.

Shalom and God Bless

Such a long time since I have last posted here. Just want to share with you a revelation God gave me this morning.

In 1 Samuel 15, God tore the kingship away from Saul and in 1 Samuel 16 God instructed Samuel to anoint David as the king of Israel. In the same chapter, Saul was tormented with an evil spirit on which he then instructed his servants to find a man who plays the lyre well. So they went out and found David, who then became Saul's armour bearer and played the lyre whenever the evil spirit was upon Saul so Saul became refreshed.

Chapter 17 talks about the war between Israel and the Philistines. Now amongst the Philistines was Goliath, whose height was almost 10 feet (3 metres). Whenever Goliath spoke the Israelites shivered and ran away because of Goliath's size.

This is an old story yes; why are you telling us this? Please continue reading:

So often there is this Goliath in our life, be it financial or relationship or work troubles / problems and it seems that we cannot and will never be able to overcome it. Even the current situation in the world because of the Corona-virus (Covid-19) people are negative because income has dried up and we are locked up in our houses.
God said to me this morning that we need to look at the positive. The same way God used Goliath to elevate David, the same He can and wants to do for us. After David conquered Goliath, Abner took David to Saul and just listen to these words of Saul: "Whose son are you, young man?" Now remember, David was Saul's armour bearer and played on the lyre whenever the evil spirit took hold of Saul. Also verse 15 of 1 Samuel 17 states that "David went back and forth from Saul to feed his father's sheep at Bethlehem". Now after Saul has learnt who David was "Saul took David that day and would not let him return to his father's house." Chapter 17 continues talking about the successes David achieved and ends with "... so that David had more success and behaved himself more wisely than all Saul's servants, so that his name was very dear and highly esteemed".
God used Goliath so that He (God) could elevate David in the presence of seasoned and experienced soldiers, and it was the start of David's great journey of successes.

In the same way God caused David to become a man after God's own heart by using what seemed to be an impossible thing (Goliath) to overcome, the same way God wants us to look to Him, rely on Him and put our trust in Him to overcome whatever circumstances and challenges we face. Be it Covid-19 or whatever, with God on our side we are more than conquerors.

God wants to our circumstances / challenges to become conquerors, to become successful. Covid-19 being one of those challenges; however it also provides one with time to reflect - use it to grow closer to God; use it to determine whether you on the right track; use the time to read and to empower oneself; to spend time with your family; to hold Bible study and to refresh and encourage oneself in the Lord.
Ask not why me, why am I suffering - rather say Lord I know that You work all things together for good to and for those who love You.

May God bless you, may He lift His countenance upon you today and forever

Gods question to all of us on this beautiful day:

When last did you pray for the leaders in and of this country and the world, whether you like them, their leadership style and the things they do and say?

19/09/2012

One morning I stopped for coffee at a fuel station as I was early for my meeting. A total stranger approached me and asked me:

"WHY DOES GOD ALLOW ALL THESE BAD THINGS TO HAPPEN".

If you have the answer to this please let us know

I sing because I'm happy, I sing because I'm free. His eye is on the sparrow and I know He wathes me

Leef jy of bestaan jy? Waaruit bestaan jou lewe - is dit opstaan, werk toe, huistoe, slaap, opstaan, werk toe, huistoe, slaap? Jesus het gekom dat ons lewe en oorvloed kan he. Have a God-filled, God-blessed day.
