Beloved brothers and sisters in Christ,

We give thanks to God for His unfailing love that binds us together as one family in faith. As Methodist faithfuls, we are called to live out the grace of God through love, service, and holy living. May our hearts remain rooted in Christ, our hands always ready to serve, and our lives reflect the light of God’s mercy to the world.

Let us continue to walk together in unity, strengthened by prayer, guided by Scripture, and inspired by the example of Jesus Christ. May God’s peace fill our homes, His joy renew our strength, and His love overflow through us to bless others.

TOPIC:THE CONSISTENT MERCY OFGOD

TEXT: HEBREWS 2:10-18

OBJECTIVE: To reassure believers of the merciful nature of God.

INTRODUCTION
One unique feature of God is His consistent demonstration of mercy to humanity. God demonstrated His mercy to man in creation by making man in
His own image. When Adam and Eve sinned, even when they failed to ask for mercy, God covered their nakedness with animal skin.

It was God's mercy that brought the Israelites from Egypt and led them through the Red sea. By the same mercy He fed them for forty years in the wilderness. The coming of Jesus to the world is the highest demonstration of God's mercy to humanity because He came to restore man back to his original state in creation.

POINTS FOR CONVERSATION
1. In what ways has God demonstrated his mercy to us as his children? Psalm 103:3-13.

2. Who are those that need the mercy of God? Psalm 51:1; Isaiah 49:13: Genesis 39:21; Psalm 6:2;31:9.

3. If God our father is merciful, how can we demonstrate this attribute to people around us? Proverbs 14:21:31;1john 3:17

CONCLUSION
It is an undeniable fact that our God is merciful. It is this mercy that we enjoy as sinners saved by grace; we are not saved by our righteous deeds but by God's mercy. He saved us, not because of the righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He washed away our sins, giving us a new birth and new life through the Holy Spirit. Titus 3:5 (NLT). Irrespective of your load of sin, God's mercy is available to those that are willing to ask for His mercy.

MEMORY VERSE: Isaiah 63:9 "In all their distress he too was distressed, and the angel of his presence saved them. In his love and mercy he redeemed them; he lifted them up and carried them all the days of old".

ACTION POINT: God's mercies are new every morning, claim yours now and always.

TOPIC: THE BIRTH OF CHRIST

TEXT: MATHEW 1:18-25

OBJECTIVE: To remind believers of the significance of Christ birth.

INTRODUCTION

The birth of Christ is a fulfillment of an age long prophecy. God spoke through
several prophets in the Old Testament about the birth of Christ, the signs or His birth, His name, the purpose of His birth, the type of death He would die and so on. According to Isaiah 7:14-15, He would be born of a virgin, Isaiah 9:6-7 says He would be the Prince of peace, and Isaiah 11:1-5 says he would come from the root of Jesse. Micah 5:2-5a, made it clear that he would be born in Bethlehem.

As we celebrate the birth of Christ, our focus should be on the essence of His coming
into the world. We must not be carried away with the merriment and forget the significance of His birth.

POINTS FOR CONVERSATION

1. In your own understanding, describe the impacts of the birth of Christ on the world.

2. From the following passages, discuss the purpose of Christ coming to the world. Mathew 1:18-21; John1:29; Acts 4:12.

3. As believers, what are the appropriate ways of celebrating the birth of Christ? Luke 2:8-20; Mathew 2:9-12; Luke 2:36-38.

CONCLUSION
As we celebrate the birth of Christ, we must realize the essence of his coming. He came to reconcile man back to God, he came purposely to save man from the power and dominion of sin, Satan and eternal death.

The best way to celebrate
Christmas is by giving our lives to him, worship him in truth, righteousness and in spirit, we must reach out to those in the world and tell them about Christ and we must show our love to him by caring for others around us. May his coming not be in vain over us in Jesus name.

MEMORY VERSE: Isaiah 7:14 "Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a Son, and will call Him Immanuel".

ACTION POINT: Tell the world about Jesus today
