"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD,
“plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11
My husband and I have been so blessed to be able to travel these last weeks, seeing new sites, but more special, connecting with family and friends.
Today, an extra special and highly anticipated time in Tulsa to see cousins. Oh, how I cherish the time sitting and catching up
with my husband's dear cousin.
They haven’t walked the same journey as we have, but have, and still walk their
own.
We both have mother's hearts that love their children dearly, and hearts that hurt because "our plans" haven't been what God had for us and our dear loved ones.
As I sat in church this a.m., a well-known scripture was read that we probably all know and have quoted many times.
I thought back how I have interpreted this verse many times.
How I have read it as that all my dreams, wishes, and desires would be fulfilled. No, it doesn't say that. I have come to the understanding that our Sovereign LORD gives us all we need...even in the "even-ifs". Hard things happen in life, things we didn't expect, and definitely things we didn't ask for.
But, God has given us a hope and a future. He has given us His One and Only Son so that we can have an eternity with Him.
I know it is hard to look beyond what sits in our face every day. Hard ache and loss may surround us now, but our future is yet to come.
Thank you, Jesus, for giving us a hope and a future. Please help us to focus on the road You have paved out for us, and may we give You all the Glory!
