🆘 Urgent Situation Update from Haiti

The situation in Haiti continues to worsen as gangs spread more terror, taking over new neighborhoods, burning houses, killing entire families and causing unimaginable violence. On Monday, the gangs shot at planes. With both the airport and port now closed, the challenges to daily survival have escalated.

Yet, in the midst of this darkness, we stand firm. Our team pushes forward—securing food, welcoming parents at the community center for moments of peace, prayer and food distribution, adding security, taking care of our life stock of 200 chickens and staying as safe as possible on our base.

This is not just a crisis; it’s a fight for life and dignity. To everyone reading this: your support and prayers mean everything. It reminds us that love and hope still have a place here, no matter how difficult the circumstances. 💔🙏

📚🎒In Haiti, going to school comes with a cost. Sadly, many families can not afford to send their children to school due to the expenses. At Iris Port-au-Prince, we are grateful to help support children to go back to school. School is back on session this week and we believe education is a vector of change. We are standing with parents doing our part to make this possible.

Witnessing this little girl transformation has been such a blessing. Just a short while ago she was so malnourished and weak that standing on her own was impossible.
But today she is walking with strength.
Thank you God for your provision and restoration. Love to see the smile of a mother caring for her daughter.

After 4 months, we’re grateful to share that Jonathan was able to visit our team in Haiti! This time was a blessing, filled with encouragement, prayer, worship, and hard work. We’re so thankful for the opportunity to support and prepare with our amazing team on the ground. Together, we continue to make a difference and shine the light of Jesus in the midst of so much darkness.

🙏🇭🇹 Our hearts are heavy as we mark another milestone in the ongoing crisis in Haiti. It's been a month since the Port-au-Prince international airport closed, and today, a month since the capital's main port received its last ship. The situation is dire, with stocks of basic food dwindling rapidly.

Despite the challenges, our team on the ground remains steadfast in their mission to support families in need. We are immensely proud of their dedication and resilience. 🌟

As we continue our work amidst these difficult circumstances, we ask for your prayers. Please pray for strength and protection for our team, and for the families we serve. 🙏 Let's also pray for peace to reign in Port-au-Prince, and for solutions to emerge that will bring relief to those facing hardship. Together, we can make a difference. 💙 🇭🇹

As the situation in Haiti has worsened in the last weeks, we are not giving up hope. Our missionary family was able to evacuate on a long journey to the Dominican Republic. But our team is still on the ground.
We are able to stay connected with our team on the ground through zoom call. On Tuesday we had our staff meeting with a time to read the word, share together and some fun games.
And today many parents came at the community center to have time of fellowship, a nice meal, fun time and they all left with a package of food.
God is still moving !

Please keep our team on the ground in your prayers. Knowing that they are not alone means a lot to them.

Since last week, Haiti has been experiencing a new outbreak of violence. Gangs controlling large areas of Port-au-Prince are rallying against the government, targeting infrastructure and strategic sites such as police station, hospitals, banks, the airport, the port, and the national palace.
Following the event of last week the government has declared a state of emergency for a month.
In the midst of this chaos and so much despair we can see the hand of God at work. Miracles are happening and we continue to find solutions day by day. Today different families were able to come at the Espérance Community Center. They were so thankful for a place where they are listening to, encourage and feel safe. We started the day with a time of worship and prayer. Everyone received fresh produce (bananas and breadfruits), rice, beans, spaghetti,… and a chicken to bring home. God is moving in the midst of so much despair.
He is faithful !
Please continue to pray for Haiti 🇭🇹

PRAY FOR HAITI 🇭🇹

2024 has brought a mix of emotions. Some days are draining, others are filled with hope. We’re caught in between comfort and despair, abundance and hunger between security and violence. Between fireworks and gunshots. Last night, as I prepared dinner, *Bill received news of an attack in his neighborhood. *Bill stays with us on weekends. I felt his stress as he worried about his mom, his friends, and whether he grabbed his birth certificate. In the kitchen, trying to maintain normalcy, I felt a knot in my stomach. People are being shot at while I make dinner. People are fleeing their home while I play with my boys. And all of this has become too common. January marked the deadliest month in two years. At least 806 people, not involved in the violent exchanges taking place, were killed, injured, or kidnapped. In addition, some 300 gang members were killed or injured. While those are the « official » number, we hear friends telling us about bodies pilling up as gang war rage and many are not even counted. Yet amidst the chaos, heaven feels closer. God’s presence surrounds us, amidst this blend of hell and heaven on earth. 2024 is here, but the echoes of war persist. We cry out for justice in Haiti, for the innocent voices to be heard. When change feels uncertain, we hold onto the hope that heaven awaits. 🙏

Emergency Aid ‼️

We give a package of food weekly to the families who come at the community center. We seek to alleviate suffering in the lives of those we serve and continually point to Jesus as the source of abundant life.

About 40% of the population in Haiti are experiencing acute food insecurity. Among children, there are 30% increase in severe acute malnutrition from 2022.*

Giving fresh food bought in Haiti is a blessings to those we buy from and to those we give to.
