Every Thursday at the Hope Community Center ⭐️

Every Thursday, it is the time for families to come at the community center. We start with a time of worship and biblical teaching. We also have joyful activities for families. Every week we have teaching about how to run a small business. This is a place where we can empower them. We than continue with individual meeting to offer a listening ear and encourage them in this journey. Thursday are for families to be supported and empower.

We want to equip families to live the gospel and share the love of God.

HOPE COMMUNITY CENTER 🙌🏼

In February, we rented a new space to continue our mission of supporting families physically, emotionally and spiritually. I received during a prayer session that this community center should be called "Espérance" (Hope). In french there is a difference between Espérance (hope) and espoir (hope). Unlike hope (espoir), hope (Espérance) is eternal. The hope that the Bible talks about gives us strength to overcome the worst storms. For without the resurrection of Christ, there is no hope (Espérance) for our world. We want to sow this hope (Espérance) in Christ in the midst of despair.
There are different programs happening weekly at the Hope Community Center. In the next posts we will make you discover more of what is happening.

🙏🏼 Last week, many families gathered at our community center! 💫 During worship, we witnessed hearts opening to God. We cried out for God to tell us what to pray, as many situations seem hopeless right now. 🌟

📚 This time of the year, we're on a mission to support parents financially in providing education for their children. We believe that education can bring positive change. 📖✨

More than half of Haiti’s 11 million people experience hunger and the cost of food has spiked in recent months as gangs take control of rural, food-producing areas.

We are thankful that we are able to feed our staffs with a meal and that we can give away food packages for families.

Will you pray for those who are hungry ?

KAINOS B&B ✨

is our social entrepreneurship program in Iris Port-au-Prince. It's a place where we create jobs and empower and train the next generation. We have a manager, an assistant manager, a cook, a maintenance manager and a cleaning lady. Every week, we have a time of worship together where we sing, read the word and pray. We also have on-going training for each one of our workers to improve their skill-set. We are proud of our team who work tirelessly for our guests. They help create a space for our customers to come rest and enjoy a safe place near the Port-au-Prince airport. We welcome many missionaries at our place as they transfer to or from the airport. We have just started to offer good coffee and crepes and have many dreams for the future of this space..

HEALTH CARE 🩺

On Thursday, our community center had the privilege of hosting a nurse who shared valuable healthcare tips with us. She imparted crucial information on how to handle various situations and when it is necessary to seek medical assistance. It was an empowering experience for Haitian mothers, as they also shared their traditional wisdom regarding the use of medicinal plants when feeling unwell. We tasted some intriguing teas that showcased the healing properties of these plants.
It was a beautiful morning together where we also worship and read the word together. A beautiful way to encourage them to continue seeking God.

CELEBRATE 🇭🇹

Last week, we celebrated the Haitian Flag Day with the families at our community center and with our neighborhood. We decorated the street with flags, cleaned the street and we built relationship with our neighbors.
We prayed over Haiti for hope to be restore and for unity to be stronger.
We were also able to bring flags down to the children of the slum. This brought so much joy in the community.

300 pounds of fresh mangoes and breadfruits were distributed in the slum of Cité Soleil. For the elderly, the children and families.

➡️ swipe to see the staggering statistics of the current realities in Haiti.

We are still able to have our family discipleship program. Being able to listen to their stories and support them and their children is crucial in a time like that. Together we cry out to God to have mercy. And we ask you to pray with us.

Last week we were able to deliver 300 pounds of fresh mango and breadfruit to the slum of Cité Soleil. A place where gangs have control and many are being r***d, murder or stollen as they go in and out.

Thanks to Haiti health network for those statistics.

HE IS RISEN ✨

Jesus changes everything as he lives in us and is near us.

We got to celebrate Easter with many families and share with them the good news of Easter.
What a day filled of joy in a time where so much grief and pain take place. The perspective of eternity we are longing for daily. He is our daily bread.

A proud father 🙌

As we empower parents, we help support their kids to go to school. Last week a father told us how proud he was that his daughters paid school and were not send back home like many students who didn’t paid. This father was so thankful and proud of this and this is what make complete sense to support families. By empowering them, we make them proud of their children and their achievement and they know it is all through God’s Grace.

Ephesians 4:1-6

As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.

Two third of of the world’s illiterate persons are women. One woman is beaten every fifteen seconds; one woman is r***d every three to six minutes; thirty-seven percent of woman of every race, class and educational background are physically abused during pregnancy”.*

We need more than the condemnation of discrimination and injustices. Woman should be considered an essential part of the church’s mission in today’s world.

At Iris Port-au-Prince we support many single mothers with micro credit for them to start a business, with a listening hears for emotional support and with food and medical care when needed. We believe it’s crucial to support woman and we pray for God’s protection over them.

Would you pray for women around the world today !

How do we define poverty ? What are the criteria for a person to be considered poor ? Is it the absence of certain issues that are important to some people in particular part of the world ?

“ I grew up in a village, went to primary school barefoot, wearing short pants, never taking lunch to school. We did not have running water or electricity or gas for cooking. Yet I have never considered myself to be poor! I enjoyed the natural springs in our tropical forest, ate fish, fruits and vegetables. Except for me, all my siblings and parents enjoyed good health. I never went to bed without food. By the standards of our world, we were poor, because of our economic disadvantage. But were we in fact poor ? I will leave you with that question.”

FAMILY DISCIPLESHIP 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

Last Thursday, we received 3 families in our new community center for the first time 🥳. We took news from them, read the Bible and sang together. Then we met each family and talked about how their business is doing thanks to the microcredit they have, and the next step.

At the end, everyone went home with a pack of food with rice, peas, flour, spaghettis, tomato sauce, garlic, salt, toothbrush and toothpaste. We gave them another pack and encouraged them to give it to someone else in need.

Giving is not a matter of letting go what we don't need, it's above all an attitude of heart.

There are new things happening behind the gate !

We are getting ready to open a community center where we are going to do training and discipleship for families.
We gonna meet with the parents we support. We will offer computer courses for the youth. We will meet there to pray, read the Bible and worship together. It will be a safe place for many to grow with the Lord.
We need to install many things for this to happen but we are so excited for what God is doing.

This is the verse that God spoke over us for 2023 🙏🏾

As so many things are scrambling down in Haiti in the midst of a political crisis. We see that God is making a way where they seems to be no way. There are many new things for 2023 as we are opening a community center for training and discipleship for families.

We believe that God is making a way and we are going after him fully yielded.

RELIEF 🙏🏻

Last week, 60 people from Cité Soleil came for a training about water and how to use the filter. I preached the gospel and told them about Jesus the living water. I encouraged them to look at Jesus’s exemple and follow his lead.
They each received a water filter and a bucket and they were really thankful for a time like that. One filter can filter 70 buckets of water per day which represent 70 families. This distribution can allow up to 4200 people to have access to clean water in Cité Soleil 💧

It’s all about PEOPLE 🤍

It’s not about our ministry or our projects. It’s all about relationship. As we do food distribution, training, school sponsorship we always make sure that it is about the people. There are the why we are doing all those things and leading them to Jesus is our commitment. We want to tell them that we see them and show them the love of Christ. And this is what matter 🤍
