Holy Resurrection Ukrainian Catholic Mission in Penticton, BC. recently received two beautiful icons depicting Our Lord Jesus Christ and the Most Holy Theotokos, helping create a distinctly Byzantine worship space for the faithful.

Through your generosity, Catholic Missions In Canada supports mission priests and communities like these as they continue their important work of evangelization and pastoral care.

Please keep Canadian home missions and missionaries in your prayers!

June is dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, a devotion that reminds us of the compassionate and merciful love of Christ for all people.

As Cardinal Frank Leo recently reflected, the Sacred Heart is “a school of compassion.” In the Gospels, we continually see Christ attentive to those who suffer, those who are forgotten, and those in need of healing and hope.

Across Canada’s mission dioceses, priests, religious, and lay leaders are called to reflect that same compassionate heart through their ministry and service to communities near and far.

This month, may we ask the Lord to form our hearts after His own Sacred Heart.

In Sagkeeng First Nation, Manitoba, St. Alexandre Mission continues to serve as far more than a place for Sunday Mass. Funeral wakes, pastoral visits, school involvement, community gatherings, and moments of prayer all form part of mission life along the Winnipeg River.

Our latest Mission Journeys article explores the ministry of Fr. Paul Nguyen and the importance of accompaniment, trust, and presence within missionary work today.

This past weekend, seminarians Lucas and Francesco travelled north with Fr. Janil to visit communities in the Diocese of Mackenzie-Fort Smith during the celebration of Corpus Christi.

Experiences like these help future priests encounter the realities of missionary life in Canada’s North. Distances, remote communities, challenging travel, and small Catholic populations all shape the life of the Church in mission dioceses.

CMIC supports many missions across the Diocese of Mackenzie-Fort Smith, helping priests and communities continue their ministry across one of the largest and most remote regions in the country.

Nearly a century after the Church of St. Nicholas in Uhrynow was built, the faithful still gather there for Divine Liturgy, prayer, fellowship, and the blessing of graves during the Pentecost season.

Mission churches like this remain an important part of Catholic life across rural Saskatchewan. Though many are only able to gather a few times each year, these communities continue to preserve their faith, traditions, and connection to the Church across great distances.

Catholic Missions In Canada supports the Ukrainian Catholic Eparchy of Saskatoon as it serves missions and faith communities throughout the province.

Earlier this week, Priests, Deacons, and Sisters from across the Diocese of Prince Albert gathered at Sturgeon Lake First Nation for a Clergy Enculturation Day focused on learning, prayer, fellowship, and relationship-building.

Gatherings like these help foster deeper understanding and strengthen connections between clergy and Indigenous communities throughout the diocese.

Through support from Catholic Missions In Canada, the Indigenous Ministry Circle in the Diocese of Prince Albert continues its important work of reconciliation, clergy formation, and ministry in First Nations communities across northern Saskatchewan.
