Mindful Moment: St. Francis learned how much good can be accomplished when we seek to live, and offer, God's peace.
He might ask us: How can you greet others in peace today?

When Francis prayed before the San Damiano cross, “Most high glorious God, enlighten the darkness of my heart,” he sought to understand God’s will. God’s great love was revealed…and a message…”repair my church.”
May Francis inspire you to find a quiet moment in your life. Pace e Bene!

Great to be with FranFed discussing Pilgrimage and Spirituality of Place. From the farm of a grandparent, to the alley of one's childhood home, to Assisi and the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem, we recognized how places hold meaning and how they help us identify values and direction. And, when we approach them with reverence, we create an opening for encounter with the sacred.

Walking Together in the Spirit of Francis and Clare Encountering the Sacred Through the Spirituality of Place Join us for a reflective online gathering with Mary Beth Wisniewski from Franciscan… Continue Reading Walking Together in the Spirit of Francis and Clare (Online)

“When we arrive in Assisi carrying Francis in our imagination, we begin to see how this place shaped him. We begin to understand how different he may have been because he was born not in Rome, but here on this hillside, with the larks overhead, the grottos and olive groves, the Temple of Minerva, and the stone of Mount Subasio...And then we walk with him and learn how he integrated all into love.”
Question: What place has been especially meaningful to you? What did it give you or teach you? How does it still impact you today?

Mindful Moment: St. Francis understood that the Good News is lived as we faithfully respond to the people and events God places before us each day. We can start right where are!

What small act of kindness or compassion is God inviting you to offer today?

Io ho scelto voi, dice il Signore,
perché andiate e portiate frutto
e il vostro frutto rimanga.

If you've ever seen the religious symbol IHS, you can thank Bernadine of Siena for popularizing it. Bernadine (1380- 44) was a great preacher attracting crowds of over 30,000. Although it is said his voice was weak, when he was ordered to preach, he found new strength and captivated crowds with his simple imagery. The IHS symbol (the first three letters of the name of Jesus in Greek) and symbol of he sun was devised by him as a symbol that rallied people in the way of peace, not war and strife. He had a great impact preaching peace and renewing the Franciscan order.
