EVENT OF SERVICE: FATHER'S DAY CELEBRATION

TITLE : CHARACTERS OF A TRUE FATHER.
READING: 1Samuel 2:3, 1Samuel 2:25-36, Ephesians 6:1-8, Proverb 20:20
TEXT: 1Samuel 2:29 & Proverb 20v20
"Why then do you kick at (despise) My sacrifice and My offering which I commanded in My dwelling place, and honor your sons more than Me, by fattening yourselves with the choicest part of every offering of My people Israel?"
Proverb:
"Whoso curseth his father or his mother, his lamp(Light) shall be put out in obscure darkness. "
INTRODUCTION TO THE MESSAGE
Eli's character in the Bible reminds us of our role of spiritual/parental responsibility
God wasn't happy with Eli because he honored his sons above God.
Don't fail to discipline your children. The rod of punishment won't kill them. Physical discipline may well save them from some detrimental measures.
In every home, good morals are the key role of parents.
As Parent(s) you have spiritual responsibility and are accountable for both your child's (ren's) actions and inactions.
Most times God is angry with some fathers because they failed in their role of responsibility.
Parents' negative influence can be detrimental to their child's (ren's) development.
CHARACTERS OF A TRUE FATHER
âś… COMPASSION
As a true father, you ought to have compassion for your wife.
Your family's needs come first before any other person's needs.
Always make your home a peaceful atmosphere to help improve your family's health and well-being.
âś… SPIRITUAL RESPONSIBILITY & MORAL GUARD
When you expose your children to Godliness at an early age, it helps them have good conduct both in the home and society.
As Parents, you need to communicate the dos and don’ts to your children. Good or positive checks are what your child(ren) requires, and not controlling them.
And there should be strong communication skills in the family.
âś… A PLATFORM FOR GENERATIONAL BLESSING
To have well-behaved children depends on your lifestyle.
Do not use abusive words on your children. Correct them with love when they are wrong.
Maintaining a pleasant atmosphere at home could help nurture a confident child.
So many children in society today struggle to gain success as a result of the failed responsibility of parents.
Today we profess Abraham's blessings because Abraham had so many extraordinary merits and therefore was greatly blessed by God.
God’s servant through his sermon, referred to his Late Father on how his proper parental discipline led to the right upbringing, instilling the values and teaching him & his siblings good behavior.
He created a foundation for strong academic skills that helped him and his siblings become great problem solvers and achievers of success.
AS A CHILD, WHAT'S YOUR ATTITUDE TOWARDS YOUR PARENTS?
Children, how much honor & value do you give to your parents?
Do you disrespect/neglect your father's counsel because of his mistake(s)? And you cannot disown your father because of his present or past mistakes. As humans, we are fallible.
But it doesn't take the place of being a disciplined and responsible father.
GOOD CONDUCT OF CHILD(REN)
đź“Ś Be careful of what you say about both your biological & spiritual father.
đź“Ś Desist from speaking ill of your father.
đź“Ś Avoid provoking your father's anger on yourself.
đź“Ś Respect your parents/guardians.
