| You've been carrying that weight long enough. Put it down. 😇☺
For 18 years, a woman walked through life bent over — unable to stand upright, unable to look up. And on the Sabbath, Jesus saw her, called her forward, and said: "You are set free." Instantly, she straightened and praised God (Luke 13:10–13).
The religious leaders were indignant — "There are six days for work. Come be healed on those days, not the Sabbath." But Jesus answered: "Should not this daughter of Abraham, whom Satan has kept bound for eighteen long years, be set free on the Sabbath day from what bound her?"
This is the heart of Sabbath. It was never just about stopping work — it's about freedom. Rest. Release. The Sabbath was made for us (Mark 2:27), not as a burden, but as a gift — a holy pause where God says, "You don't have to carry that today." The Sabbath was never meant to be a religious obligation — it's a divine invitation. A weekly reminder that you are not defined by your productivity, your problems, or your pain. It's the day God says: put it down. I've got it.
Ellen White understood this deeply. She wrote:
"It is not a burden. They who look upon the Sabbath as a burden have no idea of what the Sabbath of the Lord is. It is rest — perfect, unalloyed rest... To every soul He cries, 'Come unto Me all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.'"— Three Sabbaths, E.G. White
Whatever has been bending you over — grief, anxiety, exhaustion, shame — the Sabbath is your invitation to straighten up. To be seen. To be freed.
Rest is not laziness. Rest is faith. It says: I trust that God holds what I put down. You are set free. 🙌
Happy Sabbath, friends.
