Friends have assessed the state of their Meetings through the use of queries since the time of George Fox. Meetings use queries as a guide for self-examination and as a framework for periodically examining, clarifying, and prayerfully considering the direction of both individual lives and the life of the Meeting. Consideration of queries can lead individuals and Meetings to take action.

Take some time to be with Friends on Christmas Eve.

Durham Friends Meeting will hold two silent worship Christmas Eve Candlelight services at 7 pm
- In-person in the Worship Room. 404 Alexandar Ave, Durham, NC 27705
- Separately, as a virtual service over Zoom. Link: https://zoom.us/j/94318074739?pwd=d1R5T0tkeUVzRXJ3U28vWUVCZTVsdz09 .

Beginning with a solitary candle, each attender can light their own candle and share a message as they feel led. Thus we grow together from darkness into Light.

Children, extended family, and friends are all welcome to attend.

We ask that Friends attending in person bring a candle and candle holder to put on the table. Extra candles will be available. There will be some refreshments available as well as carol singing before worship, starting at 6 pm.

As you celebrate Earth Day, take a few moments to reflect on these queries:

What do you do to pay attention to the wonders and realities of the universe?
How do you connect those feelings with the awareness of injustice and environmental degradation?
How do you move toward action?

We're celebrating Earth Day thinking of Rachel Carson and meditating on queries from one of our online worship sharing groups. We invite you to take a few minutes to reflect on them today:

What do you do to pay attention to the wonders and realities of the universe? How do you connect those feelings with the awareness of injustice and environmental degradation? How do you move toward action?
