This page was created to encourage prayer for
York county and city. PURPOSE
To pray as one Body for God’s plan and purpose for the city and county of York!

We want to see God’s Kingdom come and His will be done in York as it is in heaven (Matthew 6:10). We believe it is God alone who has the answers and provision to heal and restore the brokenness in our land (2 Chronicles 7:14), and we want to pray united as one Body and one Church of Jesus Christ. NEW "PRAYER FOR YORK" INITIATIVE
Beginning in January 2026, Prayer for York will be shifting focus fro

m meeting each month on the 24th to working with churches to reach the goal of 24/7 prayer over York County. We will be asking each church to pray one day a month for 24 hours, by having individuals within the church pray for one-hour time slots during that time. Smaller churches may want to partner with other congregations to cover the 24 hours. We will provide a prayer guide for individuals to use during their one-hour prayer time. As the Church of York County covers the county with a canopy of 24/7 prayer, we will see the Kingdom of God manifested more fully in York PA! In York as it is in Heaven! OUR HISTORY
The original monthly multi-church gathering, "Prayer for York", was an overflow of the "Leading the Give" event on August 24, 2013. In May 2010, Mayor C. Kim Bracey held the first York City Pastors’ Summit, a meeting with a mission to join together the Christian community as a Faith Net to model unity in the body of Christ and demonstrate that it is possible for faith leaders to cross denominational, theological, racial, and cultural lines in order to accomplish a common purpose and provide answers to pressing community issues. On August 24, 2013, Faith Net sponsored the "Leading the Give" event at Sovereign Stadium, a day of activity with community churches, as well as, nonprofit and for-profit organizations providing free food, entertainment and activities for the people of York. Under-girding the event were believers from the entire county of York meeting together to pray for the Lord to awaken the Church of York to bring transformation and healing in the three most pressing issues of York City—the disunity of churches, the breakdown of the family unit, and poverty. Praying Christians from all different denominations, commissioned by Mayor Bracey, first met together at Sovereign Stadium and then dispersed into smaller groups to different areas in the city where they prayed and worshiped the Lord while walking back to the Stadium. Since that event Christians have been coming together in a spirit of unity, representing the Church of York, meeting monthly on the 24th to continue to pray for York. Meetings have been hosted at York Christian Fellowship, Emmanuel Christian Fellowship, Iglesia Christiana De Dios, Stillmeadow Church of the Nazarene City Campus, Praise Community Church, Salvation Army, Church of the Open Door, Asbury United Methodist, Gateway Church Int'l, Faith Community, Redland Valley Brethren in Christ, Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, First Assembly of God York, Cityview Church, Rapha Christian Ministries, St Paul Evangelical Congregational, Upper Room, Eagle Christian Ministries, Pathway Community Church and others.
