Information without Transformation is USELESS.

In John 15, Jesus taught the parable of the vine, the branches and the gardener. He is the Vine, we are the branches, and the Father is the Gardener. In that passage, He used the Greek word we translate as “abide” twelve times. The word used is “meno” and it means “to sit down; by implication, to dwell, to remain.” The Hebrew word used in Psalm 125:1 has the same meaning, “to sit down.” Think of it this way: those who go quickly to God for refuge will sit down with Him forever. Jesus said, “Abide in me, and I in you” (John 15:4). It was a call and a promise: “Sit with Me, and I will sit with you. Trust Me and I will keep you.” The action of trust leads to the peace of abiding in the joy of being surrounded. We can trust Him because He enjoys taking care of us. That is the place where our hearts can abide. Abie Kulynych

“A student wants to learn what his teacher knows.
A disciple wants to become like his rabbi.
That’s the calling: not just to learn and know a lot about Jesus, but to be made like Him…

When you have been touched by Jesus,
when you have seen His beauty,
when you have flung yourself on His mercy, when you have been washed in His blood,
when you have been filled with His spirit,
you now become a vessel, who pours out what is continually poured in…

If we’re going to bear His name, we can’t live consumed with our own purpose.” — Joanne DiLeo

Journeys often have unexpected and unforeseen difficulties. There are detours and road closures, missed flights and changed departure times, weather issues that are out of our control and planning errors that we feel we should have seen coming. Travel, especially distant travel, is always filled with uncertain circumstances. To all this the Psalmist writes. “The LORD is your keeper; the LORD is your shade on your right hand.” For shade to be cast, someone must be present, standing between you and the sun. God is not near in a spiritual way, in a mystical way, or in some metaphorical way. He is with us. Rather than looking for another route or even complaining about the one we are on, let’s remember whose hands we are in. If I can encourage you: may we stop jumping to the worst conclusion when plans change and believing the most fearful of outcomes when trouble arises and instead remind ourselves of the heart of the One who holds us? The circumstances of the journey are often uncertain, but God’s character is always sure! You have a Keeper, which means you have been, you are and you will always be kept. Abie Kulynych

“This year, as we study the Gospels, let’s try to take ourselves out of it…Let’s just search the Scriptures to see Jesus, because if we will see Jesus, we will see God. Jesus said in John 5:39 that the Scriptures testify of Him. So let’s pray this year for eyes to see Him, ears to hear Him, for hearts to trust Him— but even more, let’s commit ourselves to being with Jesus so we can become like Jesus and lead others to Jesus. What if our soul-winning has not been successful because our time in His presence has not been priority? What if, because we haven’t been with Him, our words don’t have the power they would have that come from intimacy, relationship, trust? Let’s start this year with a simple but difficult prayer, easy to pray but really hard to live: Lord, teach us how to be with You, so You can teach us how to be like You.” — Pastor Abie Kulynych, City of Refuge Fellowship

Some of us are waiting for and holding on to promises that are not actually promises at all. We are living for the next thing rather than living from the main thing. God’s will for Abraham was not simply a son; it was a nation. Even then, it was not simply a nation it was the nation that God would use to send His son for all nations. We cannot ever forget that God is “not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” (2 Peter 3:9) and that God “desires all people to be saved.” (I Timothy 2:4). Everything He does is to this end. Every promise He makes is toward this purpose. God’s promises are not about sons or houses, spouses or jobs, ministries or opportunities; those things may be vehicles to the promise, but the promise is always the same. God is using His people to reveal His love and His heart to bring His salvation to those who do not yet know Him.” Abie Kulynych
