CHURCHWIDE FELLOWSHIP BREAKFAST
8:30am, June 20 | Fellowship Hall

Before these breakfasts take a break for the summer we are gathering for one last unforgettable morning of food, history, and fellowship.

In honor of the Nation’s 250th Anniversary and the 100th Birthday of Colonial Williamsburg, we are stepping back in time. Our morning menu and atmosphere will be designed in the fashion of the historic student dining commons at the College of William & Mary during the early 1700s. Don't worry—we will be serving a very heavily modified (and much more delicious!) version of this historic meal.

Our guest speaker, Gerald Bullock, a long-time member of Williamsburg United Methodist Church and Executive Director of Development for the College of Arts & Sciences at W&M, will provide an introductory background at our breakfast and will lead us on a tour of the Sir Christopher Wren Building on the campus of William and Mary. The Wren Building, which dates to a time before Williamsburg was founded and almost 100 years before the colonies declared their independence, has undergone full restoration and is now reopening.

Please RSVP by 19 June to ensure we have plenty of "modified colonial fare" for everyone! Click the link below:

What a beautiful United Women in Faith Sunday!

Yesterday's worship service was filled with gifts shared by women of all ages, reminding us of the many ways God has worked through the women of the church for centuries.

We were blessed by a stunning prelude as seven-year-old Fiona played a Haydn piece entirely from memory. We celebrated joyful news as Pastor Madison shared that she is expecting a baby. We heard a powerful message from our guest preacher Rev. Meghan Roth Clayton about healing being at the very heart of Jesus' ministry and about the courage of all who boldly seek help for themselves or others.

Our celebration continued at the Communion table, where women led us in Holy Communion with a sung liturgy. We also had the joy of singing a hymn written by participants at this year's Women's Retreat with the help of soloist Sara Woodward—a beautiful reminder that God is still inspiring new songs of faith among us.

Thank you to United Women in Faith and to everyone who helped make this meaningful day possible. We give thanks for the faith, leadership, creativity, and witness of women in our church and throughout the world.

What a joy it is to be a part of United Women in Faith Sunday! I am honored to share in worship leadership and preach. This invitation reflects the graciousness and support our family has received from this congregation, staff and clergy team over the past year.

The UWF is committed to improving the lives of women, children and youth locally and around the world. So it is especially fitting to focus on the Gospel reading from Matthew, in which a woman and a young girl experience healing through the power of Jesus. Healing of body, mind and spirit is at the core of Jesus’ ministry.

In worship, we will explore the courageous actions of a woman suffering from illness and a parent overcome with grief. How might their faith inspire us to seek the well-being of those who are vulnerable and in need?

- Pastor Meghan Roth Clayton

A Prayer for Graduates by Family Ministries Coordinator Zach Griggs:

Loving God, we give you thanks for each of these students who are graduating this year and celebrate with you all that they have learned and accomplished. Their presence has been a gift to their families, friends, teachers, and schools. As they celebrate this milestone of graduation, fill them with memories and gratitude for where they have been and prepare them in excitement for where they may go next. Now, as they prepare to take their next steps in life and learning, guide them to grow in wisdom and understanding. Cultivate a curious spirit within them and open their eyes to see how you are revealing your love around, in, and through their lives. May they know we are praying for them and loving them through this journey. May they walk with you in Spirit and in Truth as they grow and discover new depths in this life. In who they have been and in all that they have learned, in all they will do and in who they will become, continue to unfold the story of your grace in their lives that they might be signs of your grace for the world. All this we pray in the name of Jesus Christ, our teacher and Lord. Amen.

For this week's midweek video, Pastor Brian concludes our two months of studying the book of Acts by reflecting on why Acts is an important guide for the church (and for us as followers of Jesus) in today's world. In this video we reflect on what it means to live faithfully in a world that is often hostile to Jesus and his way of love, mercy, and justice - and how we might be called to take steps out in faith even when we aren't sure what comes next.

MESSY CHURCH: Working in God's Garden
5:30-7:30pm, June 9 @ WUMC

This month we'll explore Jesus' parable of the workers in the vineyard and how Jesus invites us to reimagine what is "fair" in God's Kingdom. We'll see how all are welcome and included, there's more than enough for everyone, and be challenged to model God's generosity in our own lives.

What is Messy Church?

Join us on the second Tuesday of each month from 5:30 to 7:30pm to discover a new theme of life with God each month through free play, crafts, fun praise songs, and Bible stories. We also worship God through celebrations of Baptism and Holy Communion, missional service nights, water game nights, and more special evenings throughout the year. Experience heartfelt prayers and join in for dramatic storytelling that brings the theme to life. Wrap up the evening with a delicious family-style dinner where you can share stories and laughs with both new friends and old —no cost, no dress code or expectations, and always open to all ages. Join us to have fun with God and each other!
