Happy Resurrection Sunday! May you be strengthened and encouraged by the glorious truth of Jesus’ resurrection!

“Crown him the Lord of life,
who triumphed o’er the grave,
and rose victorious in the strife
for those he came to save;
his glories now we sing
who died and rose on high,
who died eternal life to bring,
and lives that death may die.”

So, this day, hear the questions Resurrection Sunday asks: What do you know? What do you believe? Have you rested your heart in these truths?

“For I know that my Redeemer lives, and at the last he will stand upon the earth.”
‭‭Job‬ ‭19‬:‭25‬

“Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?”
‭‭John‬ ‭11‬:‭25‬-‭26‬ ‭

I read these words recently and thought how appropriate they are for Holy Saturday... and for us.

The day after Good Friday must have seemed more like defeat than deliverance, like unanswered prayers than ancient prophesy being fulfilled.

Maybe, like the disciples, you find yourself between “Hosanna” and “Hallelujah”.

After crying out for salvation, the darkness and silence leads us to doubt that praise and thanksgiving will ever come.

Maybe in the absence of hope unseen, God seems distant and silent.

What this day teaches us is that God keeps His promises, no matter the circumstances or schemes of man.

This day reminds us that we walk by faith, not by sight.

No matter the grief and longing that is weighing on our hearts, we can rest that God is faithful and He is at work on behalf of His children, according to His perfect plan.

And so even while we remember the blood, the suffering, and the horror of Christ’s death — and remember that it was our sins that He bore, and for our sins that He died — we wonder at love that would sacrifice so much for people who are so undeserving. And our hearts rejoice, because we remember that Easter followed. And we persevere in hope because we know that Christ will come again, not to deal with sin but to save those who are eagerly waiting for him.

Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land until the ninth hour. And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?” that is, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” And some of the bystanders, hearing it, said, “This man is calling Elijah.” And one of them at once ran and took a sponge, filled it with sour wine, and put it on a reed and gave it to him to drink. But the others said, “Wait, let us see whether Elijah will come to save him.” And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice and yielded up his spirit. And behold, the curtain of the temple was torn in two, from top to bottom. And the earth shook, and the rocks were split. The tombs also were opened. And many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised, and coming out of the tombs after his resurrection they went into the holy city and appeared to many. When the centurion and those who were with him, keeping watch over Jesus, saw the earthquake and what took place, they were filled with awe and said, “Truly this was the Son of God!”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭27‬:‭45‬-‭54‬

We are excited to announce our 2026 theme for FBCJ Women’s Ministry: ✨UNSHAKEN✨

Even in the midst fears and dangers, and belabored by weakness and life’s trials, we can remain unshaken in our great God. He is our mighty strength, our rock, our hope, our salvation, our refuge, our fortress. To our God belongs power and steadfast love. No power in heaven or earth can thwart His plan or separate us from His love!

In addition to our worship night last Sunday, will be offering more opportunities to study what scripture says about being unshaken in a shaking world. Stay tuned for more information!
