We’re diving into an exciting Under the Sea adventure! This week, we’ll learn about ocean animals, make fun crafts, enjoy sensory activities, read ocean-themed stories, and practice counting, colors, and letters along the way.

From silly fish to giant whales, our little learners will explore the wonders of the ocean while having lots of fun and using their imaginations. We can’t wait to see where our underwater adventure takes us! 🐙🦀🐢💙

Our Ice Cream Shop dramatic play center is the perfect blend of learning and fun! As children take orders, count money, scoop ice cream, and serve customers, they are building important early math, literacy, communication, and problem-solving skills. This hands-on experience encourages creativity, teamwork, confidence, and imaginative play while helping children practice real-world skills in an engaging and meaningful way. Learning has never been so sweet! 🍦😊

These adorable ice cream cone creations provide much more than a fun art project—they support many important developmental skills for toddlers and preschoolers!

🍦 Fine Motor Development
Children strengthen the small muscles in their hands and fingers as they paint, glue, sprinkle glitter, place pom-poms, and decorate their ice cream cones. These skills help build the foundation for writing, cutting, and other everyday tasks.

🎨 Creativity & Self-Expression
Each child can choose colors, decorations, and designs, allowing them to express their unique ideas and creativity while building confidence in their abilities.

🌈 Color Recognition
As children select and discuss different paint colors and decorations, they practice identifying, naming, and comparing colors.

🔢 Early Math Skills
Children naturally explore counting, sorting, and comparing as they add pom-poms, sprinkles, and other materials. They may count decorations, compare cone sizes, or discuss concepts such as more, less, big, and small.

👀 Hand-Eye Coordination
Carefully placing decorations onto the ice cream scoops helps strengthen hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness.

🗣️ Language Development
Children engage in conversations about flavors, colors, textures, and their artwork, helping expand vocabulary and communication skills.

🤝 Social-Emotional Growth
Art activities encourage patience, decision-making, independence, and pride in completed work. When creating alongside peers, children also practice sharing materials and celebrating one another’s creations.

✨ Sensory Exploration
The different textures of paint, glitter, pom-poms, and cardboard provide valuable sensory experiences that support cognitive development and learning through play.

At Little Sprouts Ministry, we believe learning happens best through hands-on experiences that are fun, meaningful, and engaging. This ice cream art activity allowed children to develop important school-readiness skills while using their imagination and creativity! 🍦💕🌱

Last night Little Sprouts Ministry was invited to attend the Purdue extension community childcare gala!

A couple of our teachers were presented awards for their excellency. 🩷

We created an artwork canvas with the kids and then they were all displayed for everyone to vote. Our canvas won 2nd place, and $200 lakeshore gift card to purchase furniture/toys for our program!

We enjoyed watching the magic show, eating a nice dinner, and fellowship among other childcare providers!

We wanted to take a minute to congratulate our preschool graduates! They have worked so hard the past few years and learned so much!

These 3 have been with us from the start of opening our program, and a few of them transitioned over with us from Miss Kaity’s house. 🩷
They will be so missed this fall when they head off to Kindergarten!
