Were you there when we gathered on the Good Friday and meditated on the seven words of Jesus from the cross? We had an ecumenical Good Friday service with First Church of West Bridgewater on April 3, 2026. Zariah played a hymn on base during this worship.

After the President’s news conference was over, one of the reporters made the observation that for the first time in our nation’s history we won’t be celebrating Easter. Well let me tell you one thing, he’s dead wrong. We might not celebrate what Easter has become in that there may be no new clothes bought for that Sunday. We might not hide and hunt eggs in mass quantities. We may not travel home to attend church with our family. We might not see some folks at our worship services that we haven’t seen since Christmas, but we’re going to Celebrate Easter. As a matter of fact, every Sunday is Easter Sunday. Every time we assemble for worship we celebrate the resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Pilate couldn’t kill a Him and the grave couldn’t hold Him. You think the Coronavirus is going to stop Easter. More people this year will hear the gospel than any other Easter before.

Easter is not just about special programs, although we will still have them at our church. It’s not about the trumpet call or the mass crowds. It’s the fact that we serve a living Savior who is still transforming lives today. Easter is not only about His resurrection, but our ability to rise with Him. Easter is about the hope of tomorrow and the gift of everlasting life. Yes indeed, we will celebrate. We’ll celebrate what God did for all of us at Calvary. How? By remembering Him. By loving Him. By worshiping Him. By praising Him. Easter for us is everyday. Let the celebration begin. Sing with me:

I serve a risen Savior, He's in the world today
I know that He is living, whatever men may say
I see His hand of mercy, I hear His voice of cheer
And just the time I need Him He's always near
He lives (He lives), He lives (He lives), Christ Jesus lives today
He walks with me and talks with me
Along life's narrow way
He lives (He lives), He lives (He lives), Salvation to impart
You ask me how I know He lives?
He lives within my heart

Yes, this FB friend said it so well and it so resonates with me that I just had to copy & pass along!
Happy Easter my friends!

Please share that Cochesett UMC will be closed for Sunday services until April 7th 2020 due to precautionary measures to keep everyone safe from the COVID-19 virus. God bless each of you during these difficult times. Remember to care for one another. Pick up the phone and let others know you care. Even if we can't physically get together right now, we can hold each other up in spirit. Pray over the phone together, sing your favorite hymn together. Psalm 34:1 I will bless the LORD at all times; his praise shall continually be in my mouth.
For we know as the Bible also tells us, He will not leave us nor forsake us,..... God be with you till we meet again ~

Grace Grace God's Grace ~ John Wesley talked of grace as the house that God builds for us and said that Prevenient Grace is like the front porch of that house. We often linger there.... on the porch trying to decide whether to go in the house or not. Prevenient Grace calls us, urges us, pushes us, challenges us to go through the door of the house but ultimately it's our choice whether or not we enter. Prevenient Grace makes us aware that God calls all of us, but ultimately it's our choice to accept his invitation. Justifying Grace is when we get the courage up to go through the doorway & into the house, realizing we belong there!! We accept that God wants us even as we are, & accept His invitation of grace, experiencing the fullness of joy as we explore all the rooms of His house. Sanctifying Grace is when we learn to live in the house. We live with Jesus Christ as an ever present reality in our lives, and by His grace and the power of His Holy Spirit we're able to bring ourselves into the fullness of the life He desires to give us.
