We rejoice that St. John Henry Newman will join our beloved St. Francis de Sales as a Doctor of the Church.

Pope Leo paves the way for St John Henry Newman to be formally declared a “Doctor of the Church”.

This past Sunday we reflected on the persistence of Abraham and how our God, through Jesus, rescued all of us by His sacrifice on the cross and taught us to seek God in our actions and words.

"Seek Ye First the Kingdom of God" is a hymn written by Karen Lafferty that calls us to seek the kingdom of God and His righteousness. Inspired by scripture,...

We continue to say Habemus Papam!

We rejoice in the election of His Holiness, Pope Leo XIV! From his chosen name and his first message to the world, we pray that he will continue the vision of the Church shared by Popes Francis and Leo XIII.

His Eminence, Robert Cardinal Prevost was elected Pope during the Conclave and has taken the name of Pope Leo XIV on the Feast of Our Lady of Pompeii. This feast commemorates the anniversary of the laying of the foundational stone in 1876 for a church in Pompeii, dedicated to Our Lady of the Rosary, that would become a famous pilgrimage site.

This date was also the traditional feast day for St. Michael the Archangel, commemorating the 5th-century appearance of the Archangel in Monte Gargano, Italy. The Feast of St. Michael also includes the dedication of the Sanctuary of St. Michael built on the site of the apparition. Additionally, May 8th is also observed as Our Lady of Grace, a title of Mary, and by some traditions, it is also a day to remember St. Victor of Milan (Victor the Moor, Victor Maurus).

May God bless Pope Leo XIV! The first Pope in history to be elected on the feast of Our Lady of Pompeii!

As the Cardinals prepare to enter the Conclave, we remember with joy seeing the seagull resting on the chimney that let the world know when Pope Francis was elected.

We join in praying for the Cardinals who will elect the next Bishop of Rome (a title dear to Pope Francis’ heart). May the Holy Spirit guide them as they vote and may all of us looking to chimney be granted patience and peace.

Happy International Workers’ Day!

As we begin this month dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary, we celebrate the Feast of St. Joseph the Worker. Today’s feast extends the long relationship between St. Joseph and the cause of workers in both Catholic faith and devotion. Beginning in the Book of Genesis, the dignity of human work has long been celebrated as a participation in the creative work of God. Saint Joseph, the carpenter and foster father of Jesus, is but one example of the holiness of human labor.

Today we pray for those seeking work and those seeking better a working environment. We also pray for those who are denied work by unjust laws and practices. St. Joseph, pray for us!
