The Interdenominational Church Ushers Association of Washington, DC and Vicinity, Inc. fosters a closer fellowship & promotes a unified method of ushering.

In 1912, Brother John W. Evans Of Zion Baptist Church issued a call
and invitation to the Usher Boards Of D.C. and vicinity to meet with his
group for organizing an Ushers’ Union. The committee met at the Zion
Baptist Church located then on “F” Street, SW between 3rd and 4th
Streets. The late Rev. William J. Howard was the Pastor. Until his death,
Rev. Howard was one Of the most staunch and ardent

ministerial
supporters. At the first meeting a total Of approximately 200 ushers laid the
groundwork for the organization. The purpose was to create, foster, and
maintain a uniformed method Of church ushering, and to bring among
the ushers Of the District Of Columbia a closer spiritual, friendly, and
common social bond, wherein all might be helped.

As doorkeepers in the House of the Lord, we are reminded that the gifts God has given us are to be used faithfully in service to one another. This anniversary is an opportunity to celebrate the dedication of our Senior, Young Adult, and Junior Ushers as we continue serving across generations with love, commitment, and a heart for ministry.

We prayerfully ask for your presence and support as we come together for this special celebration. Your participation will help make our Combined Anniversary a meaningful and memorable occasion.

Sandi Dotson was not only an usher of Matthews Memorial Baptist Church or the Assistant Director of the Events Department; she was a champion for the Lord Gods. As a member or the ICUA of District of Columbia & Vicinity Inc. she always made sure everything was done in decency and in order of the word of God. She had great talents given by the called and she shared them lovingly with His people.

It is with profound sadness that we inform you of the passing of Reverend Lincoln M. Burruss, Jr., Pastor of Central Baptist Church of Camp Springs, MD.

A reminder of our Installation Service on Sunday, January 4, 2026, at 3:00 PM. Please see the attached flyer. A meal will be served before the service.

There will be a shuttle bus for those who are parking on Colorado Ave., or the Carter Baron at 12:45 PM and at 1:30 PM. Shuttle will return at the end of the service.
