"The Priestly Fraternities of St. Dominic offer diocesan priests a way of sharing more fully in the spiritual heritage and mission of the Order of Preachers while continuing to exercise their ministry under the authority of their own bishops. Through profession and a rule of life, members seek to deepen their priestly vocation through prayer, study, fraternity, and preaching."

Today we celebrate the feast of St. Augustine, bishop and Doctor of the Church.

With a heart devoted to seeking truth, St. Augustine contemplated deeply the mystery of the Triune God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Three Persons, one God, united in perfect and indivisible love.

May his witness inspire us to seek God with our whole hearts. St. Augustine, pray for us.

On August 8, the Solemnity of our Holy Father St. Dominic, fourteen men were vested in the habit of St. Dominic to begin their novitiate year at St. Gertrude Priory in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Who can tell us what the object of love was for Saint Dominic in those nights of penance and prayer passed in tears at the foot of the altar?

It was God, preferred above all, loved more than all, with undivided heart, yet with no exclusions—for this love embraced, elevated, and intensified all legitimate affections.

In the fire of charity, these affections became an ardent and consuming thirst for the salvation of souls.

Today we celebrate the feast of St. Dominic, our Holy Father and founder of the Order of Preachers.

Through his profound love for Christ, St. Dominic devoted his life to leading souls to the truth of the Gospel. His witness continues to inspire the Dominican family to contemplate the mysteries of Christ and to share with others the fruits of that contemplation. May we follow his example by remaining faithful to prayer, devoted to Our Lady, and ever eager to proclaim Christ with our lives.
