One way to grow in your own experience of Christ and share him with others is to get involved in a parish ministry. Here are some of the major activities going on at our parish:

The St. Vincent de Paul Society – a group of parishioners dedicated to helping those most in need in our neighborhood. Members coordinate the parish’s food bank, coat drive and other charitable efforts.
Volunteers are needed most Saturday mornings to sort, package and distribute food. Contact the Rectory for more information.

The Sodality of Our Lady – With dedication to Jesus through Mary’s example and intercession, the Sodality fosters strong prayer lives and acts of service among its members.

The Knights of Columbus – Our local council of the K of C is a great place for the men of the church to grow in their devotion to Christ and service of our community. The Knights are a Catholic fraternal family organization

Liturgical Ministries – assist in public worship in our community.

Hospitality – At St. Francis Xavier, newcomers are always welcome! Members of the hospitality ministry:

Greet all those coming to our parish to worship. They help visitors find their way at regular services as well as special events.

Assist in our weekly Sunday breakfasts and other parish get togethers.

Altar Serving – Servers assist the parish priest at various celebrations, masses, prayer services and other ceremonial events. Serving can be a great way to get closer to our Lord by helping out at the most important moments of parish life.

Reading – Readers proclaim the Word of God at mass and other liturgical functions. In addition to providing that valuable public service, readers find that they grow closer to Christ by careful study and reflection on his Revelation in Scripture.

Sacristy Work – Sacristans assist in the maintenance of the church sanctuary, especially as we prepare for major events. Church linens, supplies, flowers and other decoration are all parts of sacristy work.

Lazarus Group – The Lazarus Group assists in all dimensions of setting up for and breaking down from funeral celebrations. Members also help grieving families in their most difficult hour.
