Just doing some research. Learning how we need to be ok with sitting with being uncomfortable as Yah heals us.
Pathological busyness is a compulsive need to be busy that can act as a distraction from uncomfortable emotions and deeper spiritual or emotional issues. It's a state of excessive haste and over-commitment, often characterized by an inability to slow down and a constant need to fill time with activities, whether productive or not. This can lead to spiritual, psychological, and even physical harm by creating an "inability to be present" to oneself, others, or Yah.
Characteristics and causes
Escapism: It can be a form of escapism used to avoid dealing with internal feelings like anxiety, pain, or sadness.
Cultural glorification: In many cultures, being busy is glorified and worn as a status symbol, with stress becoming a badge of honor.
Addiction to distraction: It is rooted in a distraction from or a reluctance to engage with uncomfortable or painful feelings, sometimes making it difficult to have a rich spiritual or emotional life.
Hurry sickness: This is a state where a person feels chronically short of time and rushes through tasks, often becoming flustered by delays.
Spiritual block: It is considered a major barrier to spiritual life, as it makes it difficult to have time for prayer, deep connection, or experiencing Yah's presence.
Consequences
Neglect of relationships: It can lead to a lack of quality time with family and friends, as well as agitation or criticism towards them.
Inability to be present: By constantly moving from one activity to another, people miss the ability to truly experience and connect with their lives.
Spiritual disconnect: It can create a disconnect from Yah and one's own soul, even when the activities are "for Yah" as activity can replace reliance on prayer and faith.
Burnout and anxiety: Chronic busyness can lead to burnout, chronic anxiety, and other related problems.
