بعد كلمة JD Vance في مؤتمر AmericaFest، اشتعلت مواقع التواصل والإعلام الأمريكي باتهامات سريعة له بدعم ما يُعرف بـ “Christian Nationalism”، فقط لأنه تحدث عن العلاقة بين المسيحية وتاريخ الولايات المتحدة.

لكن Vance أوضح إن حديثه لم يكن دعوة لفرض المسيحية على أحد، ولا إلغاء حرية أي شخص في معتقده، بل كان يقصد أن كثيرًا من المبادئ التي قامت عليها أميركا — مثل الحرية، العدالة، كرامة الإنسان، والمسؤولية الأخلاقية — تأثرت تاريخيًا بالقيم المسيحية.

اللافت إن مجرد الحديث عن دور الإيمان في تكوين المجتمع أصبح اليوم كافيًا لخلق هجوم واسع وجدال لا ينتهي.

وبرأيي، الاعتراف بالتاريخ والجذور الثقافية لأي بلد لا يعني بالضرورة إقصاء الآخرين، لأن قوة أي مجتمع حقيقي تظهر في قدرته على الحفاظ على هويته مع احترام حرية الجميع.
