"This One's Not On Me!"
Galatians 6:7-8, John 9:2-3
Bishop-Elect J. Malcolm Fulton
Sowing and reaping do not mean that every hardship, loss, illness, or struggle is the result of a specific sin or mistake we made. Scripture encourages us to honestly repent when God shows us wrongdoing, but it also warns against assuming that all suffering is a punishment or a direct result of something we have sown, done wrong in the past. Personal responsibility means owning our decisions and their effects, while trusting that some circumstances are part of God's larger purposes that we may not fully understand. This approach helps us grow in wisdom and obedience without falling into unnecessary guilt, shame, or self-condemnation. When it comes to suffering let God do the investigation and we all can accept his results.
