The sermon explains that salvation is far more than securing our future in heaven—it is God’s work of giving us new life in the present. Salvation does not produce immediate perfection, but it does produce genuine transformation as our desires, direction, and relationship with sin begin to change. When we are truly saved, God gives us a new life, a new identity, and begins moving us in a new direction.

Apart from Christ, we are spiritually dead in our trespasses and sins and completely unable to save ourselves. But God, because of His great mercy and love, has done for us what we could never do for ourselves by making us alive in Christ. Salvation is not something we achieve through good works; it is a gift of God’s grace that we receive through faith, while good works become the fruit of the new life He has given us. As we come to the Lord’s Table, the bread and the cup remind us that although grace is freely given to us, our salvation came at the tremendous cost of Christ’s body and blood.

Romans 3 answers the question, “Are people basically good?” by revealing that when measured against the perfect holiness of God, “there is none righteous, no, not one.” Sin affects the whole person, leaving every one of us guilty before God and unable to make ourselves righteous through good works, religious activity, or obedience to the Law. But the hopelessness of our condition is met with the incredible words “But now,” as Paul reveals that God provides the righteousness we could never produce for ourselves through faith in Jesus Christ. Through Christ we are justified by grace, redeemed by His sacrifice, and forgiven because He satisfied the judgment our sin deserved. The Gospel is the good news that guilty sinners can be made right with a holy God—not because we are good, but because Jesus is our Savior.

This message examines Jesus’ declaration in John 14:6 that He is “the way, the truth, and the life,” showing why Christians believe Jesus is the only way to the Father. In the midst of uncertainty and troubled hearts, Jesus calls His followers to place their confidence not in their circumstances, but in who He is. Through Thomas’ sincere question, Jesus reveals that salvation is not found in following a religious path, but through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ—the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone, because only Jesus can reconcile sinful humanity to a holy God. Because Jesus is the only way, every person matters eternally, and believers should live with an urgency to share the Gospel with others.

In “Who Is God?” (Isaiah 40:18–31), we are reminded that God is incomparable, sovereign, the Almighty Creator, everlasting, and deeply personal—there is no one like Him and nothing beyond His authority. Though our circumstances may leave us feeling forgotten or overwhelmed, God sees us, knows our needs, and has never lost control. He gives strength to the weak and renews those who trust and wait upon Him, enabling us to remain faithful one step at a time. Because God is unshakable, our faith in Him can be unshakable, so we can lift our eyes above our circumstances and place our trust fully in Him.

The message launches the UNSHAKABLE series by asking a foundational question: Can we still trust the Bible? From 2 Timothy 3:14–17, we see that Scripture is trustworthy because its message comes from God, it speaks with authority, and it is sufficient to equip us for the life God has called us to live. God’s Word is not something we adjust to fit our preferences or culture; rather, it is the unchanging standard by which we must continually adjust our lives. Ultimately, the question is not simply, “Can I trust the Bible?” but “Will I faithfully trust the Bible enough to surrender to it and live according to its truth?” A truly UNSHAKABLE faith begins by building our lives firmly upon the enduring Word of God.
