Waco Baptist Church

Waco Baptist Church Waco Baptist exists to passionately lead people to faith in Jesus Christ.

We can best be described by the following phrase which is used in the following verses: It is "A Light Thing"! - Matthew 5:16 & Isaiah 49:6

If someone looked at your life this week, would they clearly see the light of Christ shining through you? In 1 John 2:1–11, Austin Johnson reminded us that Jesus Christ is our Advocate who stands in our place and intercedes for us before the Father. Because of His sacrifice, we can walk confidently in the light, not as those who earn God's favor, but as those who have received His grace. John teaches that genuine faith is revealed through obedience to Christ and a sincere love for others. As followers of Jesus, we are called to reflect His light in a dark world so that others may see Him through our words, actions, and relationships.

On this Memorial Day weekend, Pastor Andy reminded the church that freedom always comes at a cost, pointing ultimately to the sacrifice of Jesus Christ in Isaiah 53:1–6. While we honor the brave men and women who gave their lives for earthly freedom, the message emphasized the even greater freedom purchased through Christ’s suffering on the cross. Through His wounds, rejection, and sacrifice, Jesus carried our sin so that we could experience forgiveness, reconciliation, and eternal life. The sermon challenged believers to never treat the cross casually, but to continually remember the immeasurable cost of redemption and stand firm in the liberty Christ has provided.

In this message titled Built to Build, Pastor Andy challenges the church to move beyond simply maintaining ministry and instead embrace biblical multiplication and discipleship. Using and rooted in Ephesians 4:15–16, the sermon emphasizes that healthy churches are built when believers intentionally Plug In, Power Up, Press On, and Pass On their faith to others. The message reminds us that Christians were never called to remain spectators, but participants in God’s mission—growing spiritually, serving faithfully, and helping others become disciples of Jesus Christ. Ultimately, the sermon calls WacoBC to continue building upon strong spiritual foundations so the church can impact future generations for the glory of God.

In “Blessed Because She Believed,” Pastor Andy reminds us that genuine faith is revealed not when life is easy, but while we are waiting on God. Through the lives of Elizabeth and Mary in Luke 1, we see that God’s silence is never His absence, and His delays are often divine preparation for something greater. This Mother’s Day message beautifully highlights the steadfast faith of praying mothers while challenging every believer to trust God’s promises even in seasons of uncertainty. True blessing is found not merely in receiving God’s promises, but in believing Him while we wait for their fulfillment.

In “Heaven’s Rain, Heaven’s Results,” we are reminded that God’s Word is like rain sent from heaven with divine purpose and power. Just as rain softens the earth, awakens dormant seeds, and produces fruit, God’s Word softens hearts, transforms lives, and accomplishes God’s will. Isaiah 55:10–11 assures believers that God’s Word never returns empty, but always fulfills the purpose for which it was sent. The challenge for every believer is not whether God’s Word works, but whether our hearts are positioned to receive the rain and produce spiritual fruit.
