"Hatred is not a creative force. Only love is creative." These powerful words were lived out to the ultimate degree by Saint Maximilian Kolbe. Inside the dark horrors of the Auschwitz concentration camp, this Franciscan priest voluntarily stepped forward to take the place of a stranger condemned to die by starvation. A true icon of Christ’s sacrificial love, he proved that no darkness can extinguish the light of charity.

True unity in Christ survives all human trials. Today we remember Saints Pontian (a Pope) and Hippolytus (a priest). At one point, Hippolytus was actually an antipope due to heavy disagreements within the Church. However, when both were exiled to the brutal mines of Sardinia for their faith, they reconciled, forgave one another, and died together as martyrs for the one true Gospel. What a beautiful testament to the power of forgiveness and unity over division!

La verdadera unidad en Cristo supera cualquier prueba humana. Hoy recordamos a los Santos Ponciano (Papa) e Hipólito (Presbítero). Following Jesus in radical simplicity and constant adoration. Today we celebrate the beautiful feast of Saint Clare of Assisi. As the first female follower of Saint Francis, she founded the Poor Clares, living a life of profound poverty but immense spiritual wealth centered entirely around the Holy Eucharist. Like Saint Clare, let us fix our eyes daily on the Lord, look into His gaze, and allow His divine light to shine through our brokenness.

When the Roman prefect demanded that Saint Lawrence turn over the riches of the Church, the holy deacon gathered the poor, the sick, and the blind, and declared: "These are the true treasures of the Church." For his defiance, he was martyred on a gridiron, famously keeping his joy even in death. May his heroic courage and profound love for the marginalized inspire us to see the face of Christ in everyone we meet today.

Cuando el prefecto de Roma le exigió a San Lorenzo entregar las riquezas de la Iglesia, el santo diácono reunió a los pobres, enfermos y desamparados, y declaró: "Estos son los verdaderos tesoros de la Iglesia". "A man who governs his passions is master of the world. We must either rule them, or be ruled by them." Today the Church honors Saint Dominic, the brilliant priest who founded the Order of Preachers (Dominicans) and was a fierce champion of the Holy Rosary.
He combated heresy not with violence, but with deep prayer, doctrinal truth, and authentic charity. In a world full of noise and confusion, let us look to Saint Dominic's example and pick up our Rosaries today. 📿
