"Sunflower & Psalm 84:11," photo by Chamayne Metcalfe Johnson, (7/15/17). It's been a while since I've posted but with everything going on in the world, from hurricanes to man-made turmoil, I think we all need to see a bit of God's glory for some encouragement and inspiration.
I didn't plant this majestic, 14-inch sunflower (or its brothers and sisters) yet it surprisingly waved at me one day on a morning walk with Tebow.
My husband and I had been out of town for several days on a camping trip. When we left, the orchard looked as it always did -- a few old trees, some patchy grass, and plenty of "nuisance ground cover" that desperately needed to see a bush hog and weedeater ;-). Upon our return, however, imagine my surprise as I see beautiful, gorgeous, pops of yellow randomly sprinkled all over the hillside! Some of what I thought were weeds, had bloomed gloriously while we'd been gone.
How had this happened? Well, one thing led to another...and all of the conditions had to be just right:
1. Earlier in the summer, we'd had some contours of the orchard cleared and scraped to the bare earth. The soil was fertile and ready.
2. And because he loves me, my sweet husband always fills the bird feeders. He knows my passion for birdwatching and photography and the peace and joy I receive from listening to the songbirds.
3. Lastly, we'd had plenty of sunshine and warm weather, and yet plenty of rain.
BUT.GOD. -- God, with His infinite power, did all the handiwork!
There are a lot of life lessons I could muse about in this story. One could build an entire sermon or create a lovely devotion from it. I love words and could further write analogies galore. But I'm just going to leave it like this. Let it be. Let YOU reflect and ponder. Apply it to your circumstances and to your life...and enjoy. God-winks all around. Much love, my friends!
