Household of Faith

Household of Faith Let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.

So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.
—Gal 6:9,10

And [Jesus] told them a parable: “Look at the fig tree, and all the trees. As soon as they come out in leaf, you see for yourselves and know that the summer is already near. So also, when you see these things taking place, you know that the kingdom of God is near." —Luke 21:29-31. Selah!

We are coming to the end of our current teaching series, Redemptive Realities. Tonight we begin a consideration of the Death of Christ: what He accomplished on Calvary's Cross. This begins the turn in focus from Redemptive Realities to New Creation Realities. It is an exciting, life-changing study!

"The world becomes a strange, mad, painful place, and life in it a disappointing and unpleasant business, for those who do not know about God. Disregard the study of God, and you sentence yourself to stumble and blunder through life blindfold, as it were, with no sense of direction and no understanding of what surrounds you. This way you can waste your life and lose your soul." —J.I. Packer, Knowing God.

"Men ought to seek with their whole hearts to be filled with the Spirit of God. Without being filled with the Spirit, it is utterly impossible that an individual Christian or a church can ever live or work as God desires." —Andrew Murray

Last night we continued our studies in redemption with a consideration of the purpose of Creation. Our conclusion was that the purpose of all of Creation is the glory and worship of almighty God! Both we as humans and every animal, fish, planet and star exist to display the glory of God. Do you ever wonder why you are alive? Do you ever search for meaning or purpose? Turn to God! He is your reason for being!

"Nothing is more needed among preachers today than that we should have the courage to shake ourselves free from the thousand and one trivialities in which we are asked to waste our time and strength, and resolutely return to the apostolic ideal which made necessary the office of the diaconate. We must resolve that we will continue steadfastly in prayer, and in the ministry of the Word." ~G. Campbell Morgan

"The church is always to be under the Word; she must be; we must keep her there. You must not assume that because the church started correctly, she will continue so. She did not do so in the New Testament times; she has not done so since. Without being constantly reformed by the Word the church becomes something very different. We must always keep the church under the Word." —Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones

"The great weapon with which the disciples of Jesus set out to conquer the world was not a mere comprehension of eternal principles; it was an historical message, an account of something that had recently happened, it was the message, 'He is risen.'" —J. Gresham Machen
