Upon This Rock Christian Fellowship Church was founded in 2001 under the inspiration and guidance of the Holy Spirit. Pastor Vance, being an obedient servant to God, started walking and talking in search of God's house. eting at his home on Sunday, September 9, 2001. At this meeting, Pastor Vance shared the vision and purpose of this ministry that the Lord laid on his heart. Our founding Pastor, Dr Shaun D. Vance serves as Senior Pastor. His wife, Dr. LaDonna Vance, serves as his Co-Pastor. Several ministries have been birthed during Pastor Vance& tenure to aide the body of Christ to develop, strengthen, and maintain a superior relationship with GOD. Sunday Worship Services are held weekly at 10:30am; Bible Study is held weekly on Wednesdays at 7:00pm.On December 1, 2005 Pastor Vance lead the congregation into a new sanctuary and facility located at 7821 Parston Dr., Forestville, MD. (Forest Square Plaza). On March 24-26, 2006, a church dedication weekend for the new facility was held with guest speakers: Dr. Michael A. Freeman, Pastor of Spirit of Faith Christian Center and Dr. Robert Williams, Pastor of St. Paul Baptist Church. As part of the ministry& outreach program, another unit was added within the plaza. This unit houses The Upon This Rock Christian Center Learning Academy which offers after school tutorial services to students in grades K-12. Pastor Vance& vision to accommodate the growing congregation is to purchase the entire Plaza. (Currently in progress)
During the summer of 2007, the LORD spoke to Pastor Vance and noted the difference between the words fellowship and center. The word fellowship denotes a gathering of believers. Center is defined as a place of higher learning. Under the direction of the Holy Spirit, Pastor Vance changed our name from Upon This Rock Christian Fellowship, Inc. to Upon This Rock Christian Center, Inc. Since this change, the ministry has positioned itself, like never before, to gain more wisdom, knowledge, and understanding of GOD's word. As declared in Proverbs 4:7, Wisdom is supreme; therefore get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding. This name change has awakened this scripture for our ministry
