Our beloved Shirley Mooers passed away recently. May she rest in peace and rise in glory. The obituary from the Santa Cruz Sentinel is linked here.

The family requested a private inurnment of her remains on Friday, August 14th alongside her beloved husband, George, in the columbarium at Santa Cruz Memorial Park on Ocean Street Extension. Please hold Shirley and George's family in your prayers at this time of grieving.

That's a pretty big assumption........... 🤦🏻

We observed the day at our midweek Eucharist on Thursday last week.

For Episcopalians, August 15 is the principal feast of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Some Anglicans/Episcopalians believe that Mary was assumed into heaven in her body and celebrate her Assumption on this day, but belief in the Assumption is not required in The Episcopal Church or among Anglicans generally.

Fred, commonly know as ‘Mister Rogers’, was an American television host, author, producer, and Presbyterian minister. He was the creator, showrunner, and host of the preschool television series Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood, which ran from 1968 to 2001.

Decisive moments, and thus the following seasons of alignment, are often daily acts of bravery, the making of countless daily decisions. The significance of moments of bravery is ultimately determined by how we live after they pass. This means continuing to enact those countless daily acts of bravery. You don’t have to be a Bishop to do them. You don’t even have to be an adult.

As a grandmother, my grandkids inspire me every day, and they are in every word of my picture book coming out next week, which I hope will assure an entirely new generation of grandkids that bravery is for them, too.
