The Men’s Life Application Study strives to work with our Conquerors to develop in them a God Centered mentality that shows them that they are loved, they are forgiven, and no matter what they’ve done; there is always room to be reconciled with their families and communities.

After months of preparation and classroom discussion, the conquerors are finally ready to put their practice into action!

Eighteen men across three teams will work alongside each other to grow delicious vegetables that will assist in the feeding of our unhoused community, learn team building techniques, and as they patiently spend time tending to their harvest, many of them say they will connect with God on a deeper, more personal level.

Last week, in preparation for planting day, we learned how to plant vegetable seedlings from one of our Master Gardeners. There is a meticulous process to exposing your seedlings to proper outdoor conditions, waiting for said perfect conditions, and ensuring proper spacing, depth, and moisture.

Tomorrow, the class challenge will officially begin! The goal is simple: Be the team that plants, nurtures, and grows the most robust, healthy vegetables and flowers!

Last week we hosted seniors from Walsh Jesuit High School for a portion of their annual senior experience!

As the transition from adolescence to young adulthood fast approaches, these seniors spent 2 weeks interning at various organizations and institutions, and spent last week at our campus sorting clothes, serving food to our marginalized community, and helping refine our facilities through cleaning and yard work.

We are grateful for Mr. Steve & these upcoming graduates for all of their hard work!

We got our hands dirty today!

After weeks of rigorous coursework, the class traded their notebooks and pencils for garden gloves! They took their first of many trips out to the garden to lay fresh mulch and plot out the areas where they will be growing flowers, fruits, and vegetables from now through the month of October.

Earlier this week we had the privilege of hosting employees from the International Institute of Akron for a tour and a meal!

This Organization’s mission is to welcome immigrants and refugees into Akron to make our community their home.

When we encounter individuals whose first language is not English, we will partner with the International Institute of Akron to secure an interpreter to assist us with case management. We here at the mission appreciate their work!

Over the course of this academic year, juniors Ahnyea & Brooke felt a calling to support the disenfranchised community of Akron Ohio, a calling that caused a ripple effect throughout the entire school.

Through their efforts, they rallied their classmates and amassed 468 pounds of diapers, socks, and personal care items. These resources are crucial to helping individuals that are struggling financially survive.

Thank you to these young ladies and to the student body of CVCA for this generous donation!

This morning, a portion of our staff went through the first round of training for our inaugural Camp C.O.R.E summer day camp.

During the training, we learned the many exciting ways we will be engaging campers through skits, arts & crafts, games, and Bible lessons!

Additionally, we explored the importance of engaging with our campers, and how we can best share Christ with them!

Happy Mother’s Day from Haven of Rest Ministries!

With help from the wonderful ladies of Arlington Church of God Missionary Ministry, we were able to serve the Mother’s staying at the Harvest Home & in the dayroom with a special meal, live music, and a fun skit! We admire the resilience they show everyday, and wanted to take a moment to honor them.
