Rain couldn’t stop the Gesu Block Party!

A huge thank you to the Block Party organizing committee and all of the volunteers and helpers who worked so hard to make this year’s event possible. When the rain came, they quickly moved things indoors and helped make sure Gesu parishioners and families could still enjoy an evening together.

Each year, Gesu, along with 20+ other faith communities, contributes funding and volunteers to build a Faith Build home in partnership with Habitat for Humanity. This year’s Faith Build is at East 143rd Street in Cleveland.

Gesu’s scheduled Faith Build Day on August 15 was too hot, and the home site was not ready for a volunteer team. Instead, Gesu’s team volunteered at the H4H Production Center and ReStore, where they sorted two large pallets of donated work gloves, nuts and bolts, and assembled five entertainment centers just in time for the annual Thrift Day sale.

Gesu’s next Faith Build Day is Saturday, October 10 from 9am to 1pm at the home site. Interested in volunteering? Contact Amy Zucca at [email protected].

For the fifth year, Church of the Gesu was pleased to host our annual Lenten Fish Fries in partnership with EDWINS Leadership & Restaurant Institute. It is always wonderful to enjoy a delicious meal prepared by the EDWINS team while gathering in community during the sacred Lenten season. Gesu volunteers overwhelmingly supported the fish fries by filling over 100 volunteer slots. All proceeds supported Gesu’s Families in Need Fund and EDWINS Leadership & Restaurant Institute. Brandon Chrostowski, EDWINS Founder, President and CEO, joined Father Laniauskas to personally drop off this year’s proceeds check to Gesu’s Families in Need Fund for $6,675. Gesu and EDWINS are grateful to the entire Gesu parish for its support of two wonderful causes.
