Harmony Springs Christian Church people seeking to cultivate hope and love by living in the way of Jesus with grace and peace

Harmony Springs Christian Church is a collective of creative and innovative Christians who take little for granted—not buildings, particular beliefs, governance structures, worship, or leadership models. Our mission is to be a welcoming & progressive community of faith, seeking harmony in a world of dissonance—seeking spiritual moments of transformation through worship, reflection, and service to

the community. We are rooted in the Disciples of Christ, which is a Christian movement for unity, inclusion and wholeness. Grounded in these traditions, we seek to intentionally welcome, support and affirm individuals seeking spiritual growth, while recognizing and celebrating who they are—their beliefs, age, gender, struggles, race, sexuality, and abilities. Our faith arises out of the belief that God is love, that God calls us to love one another, and that Jesus is the primary way that we as Christians understand what it means to love. Like all Christian faith communities, we too arise out of a rich and complex 2,000 year-old Church history. This history is full of meaningful spiritual disciplines, deep theological concepts, and diverse ecclesial (church) models, along with many tragic shortcomings. We seek not to ignore this tradition, but to be rooted in it, to learn from its mistakes and to grow from the wisdom and truths found within it. We seek to be a community of faith that is innovative and flexible--one that is both challenging and inviting to those who don’t necessarily identify themselves as Christians. We continue to go about discovering how to be Christian in an age of social media, globalization, and political instability. We pick up where Christ left off—with seeking wholeness in a fragmented world, pushing back against empire, embracing the marginalized, seeking health and healing for those in need, and forming community with friends and strangers.

Join us this Sunday June 7th at 10:30am as we gather for the final week of our Holy Deconstruction series with a message titled, "Mutual Aid Over Institutional Growth." Rooted in the radical communal vision of Acts 4:32–37 (INCL) and inspired by the global "Slow Church" movement, we’re deconstructing the corporate obsession with numbers and fast expansion. Join us as we explore what it looks like to measure a church not by the size of its crowd, but by the depth of its care, the health of its relationships, and our commitment to mutual aid where no one goes unnoticed. See you Sunday around the table!

Join us this Sunday at 10:30am for worship. In recent years Deconstruction has been a cultural and spiritual movement, as we have been learning from Pastor Joel these past several weeks. This Sunday Pastor Kim will be preaching on" Deconstruction of the many voices." Many scholars believe that it involves the institutional voice, the lived experience voice, and the prophetic voice. The recent research suggests that people are not leaving their core beliefs, but are instead stripping away toxic voices. The text for Sunday John 10:1-13 (The Message) has been used (and still being used in some places) to exclude people. Let's look at this passage again and listen to the Voice of Inclusion speak to all of us not just a few of us.

Give Glenn some ❤️ for this welcome at this mornings gathering:

Deconstruction is a process of stripping back and leaving behind aspects of faith that perhaps we once chose to cling to.

For me, that process came with some mourning and some regret over things I had said and taught. Things I had believed because that was what I had been told and I never critically reflected on until the last decade.

I have recently discovered a beautiful, obsolete word from the 16th century: RESPAIR. It means “fresh hope” or “returning to hope after a season of despair”. That Latin root is from “respirare” which means to “breathe again”.

Close your eyes. Let’s all take a slow deep breath together. May each night of despair be met with a sunrise of respair as the gift of Gods presence invites us to receive a fresh experience of them.

Join us this Sunday at 10:30am, as we continue our Holy Deconstruction series with a celebration of Pentecost titled, "The End of the Asterisk." Grounded in the wild, barrier-breaking event of Acts 2:1–11 (INCL), we’ll explore how the Holy Spirit deconstructs the religious demand for uniformity and instead meets every single one of us in our own "native tongue"—our doubts, our unique identities, and our raw honesty. Join us as we experience a Divine love that finally does away with the fine print, conditional clauses, and gatekeepers. See you Sunday at the table!

Join us this Sunday at 10:30am, as we continue our Holy Deconstruction series by exploring the powerful, messy, and beautiful connection between the generations. Grounded in 1 Samuel 3:1–10 (INCL), we’ll look at the story of Eli and Samuel to see what happens when the wisdom of the past meets the fresh, radical hearing of the future. Whether you feel like the one whose sight is failing or the one hearing a new voice for the first time, there is a place for you in this circle. Join us as we learn how to listen together for a God who is always doing a new thing. See you Sunday!
